Well, it seems that your son is having problems with digesting some type of food. Although you say it cannot be traced to anything he has been eating it is probably some remain of some hard digestive food.
How long this has been happening and does he have any other concerning symptoms? If he experience any sort of pain it would be wise to check with his doctor because than it isn’t something that should be ignored.
Also if it is If it is grainy looking, and you are giving to him insoluble fiber this can be another cause.
