Having the same problem. This is not cancer.. Caused by something you are putting in your mouth differently recently. Mine was toothpaste and a new battery toothbrush. They heal up fast but hurt terribly. I just kept a small wad of soft toilet paper around the end of my tongue tip overnight to insulate the taste buds. Paper towel is too course (wood content).

I have had these for years. I have a sharp pair of good nail clippers which I clean well. I usually soak the spots in my mouth with straight hydrogen peroxide first to bring the infection out as much as possible and then clip them off followed by another soak or two with peroxide. I will do this for a day or two and it helps them clear up. It does burn a little and bleed a bit but it is a relief when it's over

Mine seem to be caused by sugar. When I eat a ton of sugar in a short period of time (kids easter candy, holiday parties, etc.) I will get the white irritated taste buds. Mine are more irritating than painful. When I was younger I would put baking soda on them and let that sit there for a good while. it would start to sting after a few seconds and the buds felt huge when I rinsed the baking soda away. I don't know if they were actually larger, but they felt like it. The next morning they would be gone. When I get them if I make an effort to cut out sugar and leave them alone they will clear up in a day or two depending on how well I can let them rest.
I will say when my tongue brushed against my teeth I notice it and as someone else mentioned, it makes it more likely for me to mess with them. I think the best advice is to leave them alone and let them calm down and heal. If you can figure out what causes the irritation then you can avoid the food, or substance, and they'll clear up faster. I think the people who pull, or cut them off are the ones who have trouble taking care to not constantly rub the area on their teeth. If you do that they become more and more irritated and eventually the pain of snipping them off is a relief, at least that has been my experience in the past. As others pointed out removing them opens you up to possible infection which is never good.

Just do not irritate them and they will heal. Try to use mouthwash and/or salt water to help. Also minor painkillers will help.

STOP.....You are correct about cutting them off but you are wrong about the peroxide and mouthwash. Your mouth and digestive track has many different things working for you to help breakdown the foods that you eat. Everything I have read on here sounds like Thrush which is Candida Fungal. By using mouthwash you kill the friendly bacteria that are needed and at this time losing the battle. A 3% peroxide mixture will help kill the fungal without killing the bacteria needed. Best bet is GO SEE A DOCTOR!!

Hey there. Ok, so I LOVE eating Spearmint Livesavers by the huge bag. I basically go on a binge & eat them all day & night til I go to bed. I don't suck on them, I chew them kinda with my side teeth, but using my front teeth too. I LOVE the flavor & texture, plus it gets rid of upset stomachs too. It keeps me from eating all day so I've lost a lot of weight that was needed. I brush my teeth frequently, but I don't scrub really hard to cause inflammation from brushing all the time. I drink lots of water too trying to keep sugar levels in my mouth lower. Anyhow, the front top and tip of my tongue is white & sore as if burned bad. Some is tongue & some are the sore white taste buds. Part of my inner upper & lower lips by my gums are sore & red, but my gums don't hurt. I know it's the sugar & spearmint doing it. So I've laid off the candies, but what is the best thing or "home remedy" to get rid of the pain? I can barely drink water & definitely can NOT eat without it hurting sooooo bad. What has worked the fastest for you all? Is it salt in warm water or peroxide in water or something else? I'm trying not to have to go to a store & search for some product I've never heard of before. I'm hoping to use something I have at home already. PLEASE, I need your suggestions or experiences. ASAP! Thanks!
