Actually it's completely find to pull them off or use a nail clipper. Just make sure your mouth and hands/clippers are sterilized. It barely bleeds, maybe a small micro drop and best of all, your tongue will feel 100% better.

I asked my doc and did some research : )

I haven't chewed gum for I don't know how long. Like years. I just recently bought a pack of cinnamon gum and was chewing away. Now I find your post while trying to find out what these painful bumps are on my tongue. Wow. Pretty strong evidence that the bumps were caused by the gum. Think I'll throw the rest of the pack away now. The gum is good but not that good.

What I did to help with this is to get some very clean tweezers with a point, and just to pull them off . It will hurt for a few seconds like you just rubbed them against something, but after that the area will be far less sensitive and less painful.

I used scissors to cut off mine. It relieved some pain but not all. I still feel pain on my tongue and I had to put gauze in my mouth to stop the bleeding. Am not sure what to do.

This is a horrible pain. It seems like such a small thing but it is very painful. Seems like there would be some research on this problem. I havent eaten salty or spicy foods but have had like 3 in the last few weeks. In the past if they are someone loose I get a rough dry towel or wash cloth and rub across several times. It sometimes does the trick but not always. How would a dentist treat it? I do not want to make an appointment for a swollen taste bud. $$$
