hello. i started using birth control when i turned 16. i am now 20 and i been on it for the past 3 years. i stopped taking the pill this past september because it was the end of my pack. a month later i did not receive my period. so normally i thought okay maybe i am pregnant. my cousin got a little to excited and said i was but turned out it was wrong. so then i just went about my business and my fiance and i want to have a baby. but i still have not conceived or have gotten my period. so i went to a local pediatric(spelling; sorry if this is not spelled right) that a friend had recommened me about with my problem. Turns out nothing is wrong with my body so they do not know why i have not gotten my period. so they suggested me start back on the birth control and go on ortho tri cylan regular this time. i'm hoping something goes right here. but my only question is why do i have to be on the pill now to get a period? what is wrong with my body? i really think there is something. someone please help me.

Hi! So you told you doctor that you wan to have a baby? I'm not sure how birth control pill can help you in getting pregnant. I understand that it will get your periods back on track but what about conceiving? Did he explain this to you? I know that it's not uncommon to experience delayed period after stopping pill, maybe you should wait for little more. Have you checked on your hormone levels? Ultrasound scan of the ovaries and hormone test should probably be done. I hope you'll get well soon. Good luck.

i had an ultra sound done. that is when they told me everything was fine. i have never known when i was ovulating. and they didnt explain much to me. seemed always much in a hurry. and i noticed being off it that i had a lot of side pains ( like being stabbed; i know sounds bad but it's what it felt like).

Oh I hate that, I always get the same impression, they are in a hurry, too busy and my problem is not that important. >:( You should make a list of questions, go in their office, be rude if it's necessary, and don't leave that office until you get some answers. What are we paying for?! I get those side pains always on first day of my period, it is probably related to your ovaries. It's good that your ultrasound went fine, but there must be some explanation and solution for your problem. Good luck.

yes ur telling me..and its like why do i have to be on the pill to get a period. doesnt make any sense. but i go back may 27th for a check up and if i'm not pregnant by then then i'll be asking them alot.. along with why do i have to be on the pill to get a period..because i only been back on this pill for almost a full week started feb 27th and i missed it like 4 times :-( opps lol i always remeber but then dont take it or take it later. and i've never taken it at the same time. its hard for me to take it the same time

Exactly! And taking birth control pill and trying to conceive at the same time doesn't make any sense. But for your own good, if you have already started taking pill, try to take it regularly, because it can cause you some extra problems like bleeding between periods, spotting...things that look like pregnancy symptoms but they're not %-) I hope that your check up will go fine and I'll keep my fingers crossed for some positive results. :-D

suppose to get my period this week ..and today showed signs around 5pm of spotting but its very light almost like a pink color.. i had spotting last week..so i dont know what this could be..i dont want to jump to conclusions and think the worse or the best. because i dont know. i do also have the start the past couple days of cramps.but right now they seem to be sticking more...what should i do?
