i'm a soon-to-be nineteen year old, and for the past five years, i've had the same symptoms: very heavy and irregular period, even while on birth control; constant pain in lower abdomen; exhaustion; depression; diarrhea and/or constipation; blood in stools(although this has just recently started); pain during sex.. I've been to the doctors numerous times, had numerous tests done, including blood work, ultrasounds, pap tests.. and yet, doctors have not been able to find a reason for it. i've been on four different kinds of birth control in attempt to regulate my period and help with the pain(was never on it at all before everything started)- yazmin, marvolon 28, demulen, and seasonale. with the seasonal, my period became so irregular that i would get it for three weeks or more, stop for two weeks, then get it again for another three weeks. i eventually had to stop all forms and all the symptoms still continue. when i was seeing a gynocologist, she said that absolutely nothing was wrong with anything to do with my reproductive system(ovaries, uterus, fallopean tubes, ect.), which made no sense to me but whatever. doctors have questioned the following: cysts or ovarian cancer, kidney stones, gallstones, irritable bowel syndrome.. i'm going in for a gastroscopy soon to see if i have an ulcer, and possibly getting a colonoscopy done to see if it's crohn's disease or something else. the symptoms seem to be getting worse. yes, i live a very stressful life- i'm in college monday-thursday, working friday and saturday, slightly insomniatic so i don't sleep much, and used to be an alcoholic. i'm wondering if anyone can help me at least try and figure this out. it would be greatly appreciated :-)

Hi hon: Have you had a laproscopy done? I suffered VERY much like you have - for YEARS - and finally I found an obstertrician that did a laproscopy on me - WHEN I was in pain! He found that the veins around my uterus were absolutely engourged. What he said was this "The veins around a regular uterus are from the size of a hair to a pencil lead, yours were the size of a large mans thumb!!" And he also said that my veins were so engourged that they were black and looked bruised. And the only way I found any relief was being on a pill that actually stopped my period for a full year! I didn't have any side effects from it, BUT everytime I filled my perscription the pharmacist said "Is your doctor sure about this?!' with a %-) look! I eventually had to have a hysterectomy - due to the pain. But I am sure there are more options now. So IF you haven't had one ask for one.

It is true that your symptoms also follow ovarian cysts, colon problems etc. BUT like I said your symptoms are EXACTLY the same as mine were. So see if they are willing to go that route!. Also IBS does NOT cause such severe problems as what you are having - I've had that too! God I sound like a hypochondriac!!!! 8-| Let me know OK? Good luck and health!
