I have just determined that omega-3 oil supplements make my throat tight (including that 'lump in the throat' feeling.) At first I thought I was reacting to fish oil, but flax oil does the same thing. After being off these for a number of days, the tightness gradually subsides. Takes a week or more to see good improvement. Now I will have to find other ways to fight inflammation.

to mooshka9610165, I just read your msg. I have a tight feeling throat pulsing twitching and feels like my tongue is thick. like you I went to every dr. I could think of.everyone says its stress.but I only drink decaf tea, because I know regular tea makes me feel like a heart attack.so I guess I will just leave all tea alone and see if all symptoms will go away. but sound like me and that makes me better.

Just saw this when I ran a Google search on "does the Keurig water filter causes throat swelling?" and this thread came up. I had no problems with my previous commercial-level Keurig and no problem with the new K55 I got from QVC. UNTIL that is I finally put in the water filter and filter insert. I've used K-Cups of all kinds, and the My K-Cup but my throat got badly swollen after the filter had been in a few days - less than a week. I removed the filter and - voila - no issues.

its very possible it was the tea. I had a reaction to jasmine tea that lasted for days... breathing impaired, sinuses and throat burning and swollen, non stop drainage, lungs too. For some, it can be very serious.

I can't believe what I'm reading here. This month Herbal tea with senna I have been drinking for years has given me similar symptoms in my throat (sore, lump, phlegm) making it difficult for me to breath when trying to sleep. Prior to realizing the cause of the problem, an ENT thought I had a fungus infection down there and prescribed Fluconasole. The thought of this never going away is daunting.

Hello.
Stumbled upon your post looking up symptoms for myself.
I have a lot of your same symptoms.
Did you ever get anything figured out?

I have celiac disease and I wonder if you have had a full panel for celiac. IT is associated with many of the symptoms that you have mentioned and often times they do not check fully for this problem. You need a full celiac panel. Also, have your total IgA, IgG, and IgE antibodies checked to make sure you are not deficient. Aside from that if you are not already gluten free, I would try that to see if it would help. I am on the Paleo diet to help keep my symptoms at bay. Also, I had developed allergies to nearly everything and a diet including meats that only are grassfed helped me. I am only answering this as one that has spent 30 years trying to solve my own health problems.

Once I read a friend's celiac biopsy report and discovered she had celiac when the doctor missed it. "Mild villi atrophy" it read. She took it back to the doctor and asked again, and realized the mistake.

I had the exact same issue. Went to the hospital to see if something was lodged in my throat. Didn’t connect the dots for months. Drank iced tea Black tea every morning. Changed food with no results. Stopped the tea and symptoms went away. This after months of suffering the same symptoms described in post

This just happened to me! I had never heard of tea allergies either, and I normally don't drink it but this seems to be the only common factor that's causing the swelling. Did you ever find out what was causing it for sure?

I’m a big time tea drinker, love the stuff. Iced or hot. I have on occasion experienced itchy and mild throat swelling. I’ve narrowed it down to certain teas that are blended with other natural ingredients for holistic purposes. The common ingredient in the ones I react to is licorice root. It’s in a bunch of the teas that are marketed for bedtime/restful sleep. So I know now to steer clear, or I’ll spend the rest of the night trying to clear my throat!

I have a cuisinart coffee maker that dispenses coffee from an internal holding tank. The tank is plastic with a metal heating plate. I have had it since around Sept, and until recently I made about 4-6 cups daily, drinking about 2 coffee cups full. I had the heat set to turn off after 2 hours. Around Christmas I developed flu symptoms and bronchitis. I was not tested for flu at the time, as the flu symptoms had lessened by the time I finally went to the Dr. In January, my family of 5 tested positive for flu Type A. I was the last to have the flu, so with all the meds available in our home I didn't get tested for flu. After this episode, I developed a chronic sore throat and burning mouth symptoms. My throats would be worse one day and the next day my mouth and tongue would be sore and swollen, alternating which was worse. Some days worse than others. I took oral medication for yeast, thinking it might be thrush after taking antibiotics. Nope. I took antiviral medication, thinking that would help if I had some sort of systemic viral problem. Didn't really help. So finally went to have labs last week. All my labs are "perfect," according to the Dr. White blood count, CBC, hormones, Thyroid, liver, kidneys, etc. No sign of systemic problems with the tests run at his point. I am still searching for answers. The reason I am posting here is because I have noticed my viral feeling has all but subsided. My sore swollen throat is gone at least for a few days. My mouth and tongue are no longer sore or swollen, but still not right, although the tingly and burned feeling is still present. I did not mention the coffee pot to my Dr because I wanted to see if there was something truly wrong with me before blaming a simple coffee maker. I have not used my Cuisinart for almost 3 weeks now. As a test- I drank a cup of coffee from this maker a few days ago. My mouth IMMEDIATELY felt the plastic coating all the way down my tongue into my throat. I still feel like it's not completely gone. I have been searching for an alternative for weeks. In the meantime, I still have been drinking coffee using a pour over and visiting Starbucks. These do not give me the same feeling in my mouth. The pour over device is not convienient to my busy mom lifestyle in the mornings- I need a pot I can go push a button and get one cup of coffee at a time- otherwise most days I waste so much brewed coffee. I am actually thinking of getting an old school Corning ware electric percolator. Thoughts are welcome. Thanks.

ive been having problems with a swollen tongue and ulcers for a few weeks now.
i have booked in to check for celiacs as my sister has it .
this morning i felt fine and my tongue was back to normal. i skipped my morning toast and just had a cup of tea no sugar.
within minutes my tongue began to swell and tingle.
its not celiacs at all.
it has to be the tea.
