My name is Christy I have a very sick sister that is 49 yrs old. She was in the hospital for almost 7 months. The doctor in the hopital found spots on my pancratic and told her to get it checked in a few months but she didnt. She went home and she tried to eat but nothing would stay down. She was put back in the hospital because she throwing up everything even water. She cant stand the smell of food, wont eat because she cant keep things down and she has lost over 140 pounds in 2 months. The cancer doctor at UMC says they cant do surgury because of her health condition and she is too weak but she has all the signs of cancer but they need to know what stage. We dont know what to do she has all the signs of pancreatic cancer but she doesnt have insurance and doctors out here in Vegas wont do anything because she is s weak. My family and I need HELP. :'(

Dear Christy: My heart aches for your sister and you and your family, I am also sickened by how many Americans do not get treated for life threatening illnesses. When your sister was int he hosptial for 7 months and they found spots, why didn't they do anything then?
One of the BIG indictors of pancreatic cancer is jaundice - yellowing of the skin - the pancreas and the liver both deal with billirubin - and if either of their bile ducts are blocked the person will have yellowing of the skin, eyes, urine will be almost brown and stools will be dark! she needs to be hospitalized ASAP to get on an IV! She NEEDS fluids, it MIGHT not be cancer at all, and wouldn't it be awful if she doesn't have cancer and going through all of this? If you could go to the hospital is there ANYWAY that you guys have any public hospitals or anything like that? I cannot belive that someone is suffering so much but cna't get help. If she gets fluids replaced, then her strength will increase. EVERY cell in my body sends out love and compassion and hope to you and your sister, I wish you NOTHING but the best and I hope that you can get your sister the help she needs. I am so sorry I can't help you further, all I can say is DEMAND the doctors do something for her! Go to the media if need be! She is obviously not able to take care of herself, so you have to be her advocate. SHOUT from the nearest mountain honey! Especially at this time in the US with the government trying to cover everyone, this needs to get out there in the spotlight. Thank you so much. My sister is back in the hospital they have her on medicine to help her to not throw up which they nurses said shes doing better she didnt throw up her fluids at all yesterday. Her skin isnt yellow yet thank gosh. I talk to her nurses yesterday and they said they are doing another blockage test and to see if she has cancer. The cant do surgury because she is so weak and she either wont make it or she will be a breathing machone for a while and my sister is scared of either one. The doctors told the nurses they want to find out whats going on since she was just in a week ago so wont allow her to go home unless they can get her on the right medicine or other opition a feeding tune to help her if she doesnt eat than she can turn it on. Now we just have to wait to see what the test results say.

Thankyou for letting me know that, I DO know that liver or pancreatic cancer has the yellowing of the skin. So it could be pancreatitis! But even if you have to nail yourself to the front door don't let them send her home till they've figured it out! That's what I told the doctors with my mom! They looked at me like this o.O And I looked at them like this :-S !!! So they got the point! We also went to the media about several things! So all the luck and health to you and your sister.
