Anal sex after Hemorrhoid surgery?

I had my surg just over a week ago. The pain (at least mine) wasnt as bad as I had been told but it is variable im sure. I found that a sitz bath really helped - esp since I had an attachment for my shower that made it much easier. I suggest you get it ahead of time. My pain is a lot less and I thinkI will be able to go back to work on schedule 2 weeks after my operation. I am very glad I had it done ( but it was questionable the first couple of days after my "movements" resumed two days after the operation). Every day gets easier

I don't recommend having the surgery for cosmetic reasons. I had a surgical procedure called THD done a week ago and still in excruciating pain. Not worth it. It feels like giving birth through my rectum every time I have a bowel movement.

I had the surgery recently and yes it was painful aftewards. i do NOT regret this but have had issues with anal sex. My boyfriends has been amazing and even suggested i purchased a set of different size butt plugs (online), we used the small one together and believe me that wasn't big but felt like a he was trying to shove a pumpkin up. We persevered and now I manage to accommodate him again and still have the fabulous feelings so the surgery has actually improved our sexual and mutual love/understanding by working together as a couple through this. Just try not to have a complex after op, worrying about how it looks, if it hurts will just lead to deeper emotional problems for you and your better other half - GOOD LUCK EVERYONE etc..

I had my surgery 6 months ago (Hemorroide and an anal fissure), i think I have experienced all what you guys mentioned above, I took a big dose of pain killers and antibio. my doctor told i had to have my first bm the day after the surgery even though I don't want to... I bleed a river at first time, and i could not make it, too much pain, unbearable... So I went to sit in a warm bath, it helped a lot and I had my first bm there :-) I actually had all my bm in warm water since, I find the warmer the water is, the less pain I feel, of course not too hot to burn my butt... I stoped taking pills 2 weeks after, my life comes back to normal, I never have the problem since. But, I ll never forget how mush pain I have experienced during the whole thing...About anal sex, my anus becomes really tight after the surgery, I can barely put one finger in, I asked my doctor (gay), he told me its normal, it's all new down there, I just need some practice to open the new muscle. I ordered a set of dildos (3 diff size) from amazone and I am practicing 2 times a week now, I can take the 2nd (12x3.5cm) now, and I am very happy, I hope I can go back to the market very soon, its really miserable 8 months non sex!I hope my story can help you. the only probleme i have now is i got a feeling of bm every time when I take a warm bath or in jacuzzi, and sometime, I can not control farting in public, it's embrassing, and also i can never clean well my butt after bm, there always marks left on all my CK underwears... I become a baby! What can I do???

Thank you for your honesty, everyone! Like a lot of folks on here, I wish I had been able to read some posts about others' experiences before I had my surgery. Now my nurse practitioner at my doctor's office WAS very honest with me about what to expect. More so than the surgeon was. She said that her patients had reported back to her that it is the most painful procedure you can have. I kind of laughed that off. I mean, I'd given birth, torn down below at the time and had to be sewn up, and had also gone thru a breast augmentation which was brutal for the first few days. How bad could it be? Well I found out. I had my surgery several years ago when my kids were little, but I still remember vividly how awful going to the bathroom was. The first time it happened, I covered my mouth to try to keep from screaming, but my youngest heard me and came to the door and asked Mommy if I was all right. I hollered at him that I was but that I was going to be making some noises and he needed to run to the other end of the house. Then I literally screamed as I pooped. Wow. And there was this awful convulsing feeling going on inside at the same time that I've never felt before or since. Now if everything was pristine perfect down there now I could be happy with the results as all of this was a long time ago and naturally the pain passed after a while as I healed up. But I have someone new in my life and decided to take a mirror recently and check out the ol' bottom to see how she looks. It's not good, looks just the same as before the surgery. So I must have gotten new hemorrhoids? I am so self conscious now about him seeing that!!! And pissed off that I went thru all of that for nothing. I am just hoping that if someone is turned on enough, he can overlook imperfections. I know he wants to try anal sex, and I asked him if he can do that without actually looking at my bottom. Hi Thank for posting this, i'm a 39 yr old gay male (bottom) which is just about to undergo Hemorroid sugery, after reading these post's I'm really scared, A( of the pain and recovery time and B) what's going to happen to my sex life and how long will it take before my partner and I can give it a good go????
I have been suffering external Hemorroids now for 15 yrs (on and off) due to my weight training and straining in the gym or even lifting something heavy around the house, they usually last for 2 weeks and go away, I struggle with the 2 week wait then..... lol, how can I wait 8 months? how are things for you now? was your situation simalar to mine? I'm thinking about pulling out of the surgery after reading peoples horrible posts regarding the pain, please help

I did it !!!!!! today is now day 10 after my op, the surgeon removed 4 external hem's. Yes the pain is horrible and its like that for at least 8 days, I went back to work yesterday (sitting in an office) did OK, although I refused to eat as I did NOT want to have a BM at work due to the after pain that I still get. This operation is hell !!!!!! but hopefully well worth it in the end. I think the worst thing has been (for me) after the BM the tight pressure pain I feel up inside me, it last's for hours. the only thing that helps in the warm bath.

I am about to go through this procedure and was wondering if you found an answer to whether you can have anal sex after the surgery and how long you actually have to wait before you have anal sex. Was also wondering about the risk of recurrence. Thanx :)

I am going through the same stage now. Had surgery THD + traditional external excision and after 3 months I feel I cannot handle anal sex like before. It feels really "shallow" and utterly uncomfortable + painful to be penetrated. Plus, Drs seem to not quite understand the issue. Mammadukes, I would like to know if after a year you have regain you sexual anal joy? Anyone has any similar experience to share?

Wow, I'm glad I didn't read these posts before my surgery. I had an external removed 2  days ago. Just one incision going from my ass cheek down past my anus  and inside. I used my shower douche for my first elimination. And today I had two normal BM's. I was on liquid diet for a couple of days before surgury so my bm's are very soft.   I'm VERY lucky based on what I'm reading here. The BM's don't hurt ... sitting down, getting up, anything that makes my sphincter contract is painful. Before this I was into fisting so I think my ass has a lot of flexibility and that is what is saving me.

The Ibuprofin is doing a lot  more for the incision pain than the vicodin. 

I had been living with this external for about 15 years. It would get inflamed from lifting things and this last time, from coughing due to flu! I am really glad this is gone. It used to affect my urination ...always felt I was on the verge of inflaming it  again ... now I pee freely!!!

i had the surgery just 4 weeks ago and its about a 8-10 for me anyways the bleeding has finally stopped from the surgery and its just the pain now when using the bathroom even though doctors give u pain killers and stool softeners its still really painful sometimes just keep the area very clean i clean the area 4-5 times a day
