Anisocytosis means that the red cells are of unequal size, what indicates that hey are not maturing regularly. It is a sort Myelophthisic Anemia, which is characterized by infiltration and replacement of normal marrow space (in bone marrow) by abnormal cells. These abnormal cells are not able to produce red blood cells and immature cells occur in the blood. These findings occur when the bone marrow is replaced by infiltrative tumors, granulomatous diseases, (lipid) storage disease, or fibrosis. Treatment can include hormones for stimulation of production of blood cells, like erythropoietin and androgens.
