sandwich, I was the same as you. My periods have been pretty regular since stopping the birth control, but this didn't prevent me from having anxiety, depression etc.. Hormonal imbalance is not that simple. even if you have regular period, it doesn't mean your hormonal levels are fine. Mine weren't at all: my progesteron was almonst non existant, but every 30 days I had the bleeding. Trust me, regular mentruation is not a sign of hormal balance in our case. How long ago did you stop the pill?

i was on loestrin from april for acne, changed to yaz cos loestrin wasnt working in may/june, had horrendous leg pain off yaz(oestrogen caused it) so hospital put me on progesterone mini pill end of july. by september i felt the odd anxiety and depressed and crying feelings seep in, so i blamed the mini pill and stopped it as ive suffered panic/depression before and didnt want to repeat. roughly sept/beginning of october i stopped it. so ive gone from low oestrogen, to high oestrogen, to none and high progesterone, to none at all. ive sent my body on a rollercoaster ride havnt i!!

do you get wiered sensations from time to time in your body? my hands/arms and body in general feels like its coming down off something, does that make sense? like for instance i used to smoke many years ago, and i could "feel " when i needed a cigarette, like a draining feeling of nicotine from my body ready for its next fix. its bloody aweful.. ? im having it right now, and i feel like im hot flushing. im currently one week from the start of my period(last saturday which lasted 2 days really heavy then just spotted till yesterday) but ive had period pains last 3 days also even though my period is finished.

which is strange, cos i was kinda thinking i was oestrogen dominant as i have had the bad leg pains for more than a week since before my period which was why i was taken off yaz.. but ive just read that hot flushes are due to lack of eostrogen. theres so much info, and im waiting for my hormone test on 9th of jan, its driving me mad looking for answers in the mean time. all i know is ths site has been the best find ever. i was so scared i was insanely stressed and was having a breakdown. now i know different.

Thanks so much for responding, I've been so worried. I'm actually feeling better today, had a few minutes of feeling stressed and worried about my boyfriend but other than that I'm feeling better *touch wood* I'm hoping, seriously hoping my symptoms won't last as long as many of you have as I was only on the pill for 2 months. I saw a post on another site and the docs put her on fluoexine for the anxiety and within a month she was off that and all meds, and now 2 months since feeling bad is she's now back to her normal self. Reading that post gave me a lot of hope :) I'm going to the doctors tomorrow although am feeling better just to see what they say xxx

thats good emily, its good that you are optomistic, it definatley helps when you know there is light at the end of the tunnel. dont be dismayed if you have a few days or week of good and then have a bad few days , its likely you could as i was feeling great 6 days last cycle and i was so arrogant saying "ha! ive beaten it ! but was only 2 month into it, it came back with the cycle pattern im noticing (i get anxiety and feel black mooded around few days before period then a week after period to day 14 i seem to be worse, then ok for a week. but each cycle gets less intense, u will notice you arnt as panicky as last month, or you can shake it off better. we are all different, some take weeks to get better and others a lot longer, fingers crossed your a lucky one.!

I've definitely felt better since reading the reasons why I've been worrying about my relationship and know that it's normal :) I've eaten almost normally all day and slept well last night and haven't felt that bad at all. Baring in mind I've only had the anxiety symptoms for just over a week, and they've been better I'm hoping they shouldn't last much longer. I spoke to one of my cousins who is just a few years older than me and she said she felt extremely hormonal after coming off of microgynon, the same as me but she was fine not long after. So hoping I having good genes and me being young will heal me quickly! :)

Girls, I advice you to read the posts about coming off of birth control. Just google "coming off birth control": you'll find tons of experiences about it. Just take it easy. It has happened to a LOT of women. The average time to go back to your old self after the pill seems to be 1 year.

Mine seemed to stay on the same 28 cycle as if I was still on the pill but were heavier the second and third day, to the point I couldn't get out of bed. My periods weren't that heavy before going on the pill but those two days were always my heaviest. Now 8 months later my cycle is changing ( my body must be trying to find its own rhythm ). Cause last month my cycle was 24 days and this month 25 days. And now I'm back to a seven day period. I never tracked my periods before the pill so I have nothing to compare on but I take this as a good sign as my body is no longer programmed, it can naturally run its course. - jas86

yes my periods since stoppin the pill are a 26 day cycle, but my first 2 days of period are really heavy, it runs out of me the second i get up and i leak through tampons,,then i just suddenly have spots of brown discharge for 5 days. this was not my periods before the pill. my anxiety seems to start a little 2 days before my period, then i seem ok a couple of days, then as days 8/9/10/11/it peaks! which apparantly is when the estrogen is peaking just before ovulation, then its a drop...which is when i go ok for around a week..the the cycle starts again

I'm now worried its me making myself worse , as surely the pattern would stay the same? Has anyone else had this happen.. feeling anxious

I posted on this forum around 2-3 months ago when explaining my experience when switching from microgynon to cerazette. So I feel I should update you all, and I come bearing good news. A week after posting I decided to stop taking bc altogether, this was before I saw my GP because I couldn't suffer any longer. My anxiety had reached an almighty high and the thoughts I were having were scary!! I went through an horrific few weeks after stopping my bc, but I slowly started getting better and the recovery was quick. I'd say I'm about 90% of the way there now! Yay :) for those complaining of hot flushes, I can assure you that this is a mixture of hormones where everything adjusts during your cycle. I worried and made myself anxious making the hot flushes worse!!! Don't worry about it, it's a healthy process :) I just want to let you all know that hormones are an amazing thing which can seriously effect you when unbalanced. I finally spoke to my GP who reassured me that after a few cycles with no bc my body would get back to normal. Some of us are just unfortunate that bc doesn't agree with us. I'd advise you to get the copper coil (uncomfortable for a while but well worth it!) I wish you all luck in recovery. I understand how most of you feel and you will get better. Just let your body go back to its natural state :)
