I was on Yaz for about 4 months, and had to quit taking it. The first month, I thought I just needed to get used to it. The second month wasn't bad, but the third and fourth months, if I got the least bit "excited", I would start a period. Seriously! It was like I couldn't even think about sex. My Dr. switched me to Seasonique, and the first five months I was on it, it was great. Now the same thing is happening with this one too. :-( I think I just need to go back to generics and stop messing with my cycle. *sigh* I'm currently researching whether or not this has to do with the fact that I've borne two children; if body changes post-pregnancy have anything to do with my intolerance to these cycle-changing pills. At least they were effective when I was able to "use" them!

My 16 year old daughter started yaz about 1 1/2 month ago because she was having such irregular periods. We have been having major issues. BAD cramps, to the point she lays in her bed and crys for hours. Very moody, sensitive skin and musles, headaces. I was thinking she had fibermyalgia (?). After reading all these postings, WOW. I am going to call her dr. tomorrow. This pill seems to cause alot of problems. Anyone with info on dr. who agree let me know. This sound like it should be pulled off shelves.

I can say I have been taking yaz for about 5 months now. At first it didn't really effect me other than not having a period for the two months. I thought it was a little strange. But now I'm fatigue all the time. My breast have swollen and are very sensitive. I feel emotional. I crave chocolate al l the time. And it did state it was to help clear up moderate acne. Well for me once a month it makes my face worse. usually i get a pimple here or there, but it has caused my face to explode. Anyway, After about a month of taking yaz my fiance and i have stoped using condoms. So i thought it was possible for pregnancy. However every test i have taken all come out negative. Whenever I take the sugar pills i don't really get a period it's just spotting for the first couple hours of my day and then it's gone. Also I feel that I haven't gain any weight but i do feel bloated all the time. Is anyone else feeling this way? and if so can you email me? *****
I would just like to know if this is a normal side effect. Or if i should go back to the gyno for further testing?..

Im switching off Yaz! I've been on it for about 8 months.. and it just keeps getting worse! Mood swings, weird lower abdominal cramping, bloating, constipation, always nausous(sorry for the spelling) and now... I HAVE NOOOOO SEX DRIVE! none... and im 19!! something is not right. I was told Loestrin Fe was the way to go. I looked up the doses and the progestin is a different type, and it's a much lower estrogen dose than Yaz. I can't take it any more and I cant wait to switch!

I just started taking Yaz 8 days ago, & stopped today because of the severe rash that broke out on my whole body. It started on my legs, & has spread to my stomach, & arms. It is awful!! At first I thought it was poison oak because it itches like it & looks similar, but it has only gotten worse after 8 days. It always itches worse in the evening after I take the pill. I got the rash a day or 2 after I started taking Yaz. I haven't had any other side effects, but my skin is sure rebelling! I hope I won't have scars after this ordeal! It itches sooo bad, & not much helps! After reading all these posts, I think Yaz is a terrible drug, & no one should be taking it!!!

i truly wish i would have found this website earlier. i just stopped taking yaz after being on it for 1 1/2 years. i did not put all of my symptoms together until i read this website. i was feeling terrible in general. the reason i stopped taking the pill was due to the extreme headaches i was having usually 2 times a month lasting for atleast 2 days each. nothing would help with the pain. it was so bad i couldn't even sleep at night without crimping my neck a certain way to relieve the pain slightly. i have had ear congestion, no periods (a lot of $ spent on pregnancy tests-all negative), leg/arm spasms, blurred vision, having to pee all the time, NO SEX DRIVE-just gone, feeling pregnant, weight gain, swollen breast (had to buy new bras) and a feeling of sadness most of the time. i work out 3 or 4 times a week and have gained this fat around my waist and back.
i never would have attributed all of this to my birth control pill. HOWEVER, i have stopped the pill and fell "normal" again. i feel like a fog has been lifted from my body and my sex drive is back. it's amazing to me that i did not put 2 and 2 together to figure this out before finding this forum. thank you for all of your stories, it really helped me not to feel so stupid for letting this go on for so long. i stopped my pill at the end of a pack and feel great. my ears are back to normal, i can see clearly and i don't have those terrible, terrible headaches anymore. thank god!!

I've been on YAZ for a full year and have experienced most of the symptoms mentioned in this chain-- severe fatigue to the point of not physically being able to get out of bed; severe headaches/migraines that I get several days each week, seemingly for no reason; blurred vision; severely dry eyes; heart palpatations (sometimes it feels like my heart is literally inside my throat); issues with slurred speech (for no reason it seems) and also motor function problems (I seem to drop everything) and muscle spasms. I literally feel bad most of the time. I, too, had no idea that all of this could be a result of the YAZ. When I pinpoint the first memory of each of these symptoms, they each go back to about 2-3 months after beginning YAZ. Some didn't start until 6 months into it, but none of it was happening before. With that being said, the YAZ doesn't help with my bloating at all. .. it helps a bit with the cramping but my cramps have been getting consistently worse over the last few months. It does help w/ shortening my periods. I, too, recently went to my doctor and she told me there was no way the YAZ could be causing this. I disagree and have taken myself off of it (a few days and counting). The most alarming symptom that I've had is substantial hair loss. I'm lucky to have a thick head of hair so people who see me don't realize it (unless i lift my hair up and show them how much it has thinned out. It's incredibly visible - i can't even pull my hair back into a ponytail any more b/c it looks so bad). It's been about 6 months since things REALLY got bad and I have just chocked it all up to stress and my crazy work schedule/ life. After talking to two colleagues who had horrible experiences w/ Yasmin (lboth ost half their heads of hair and when they stopped taking it the hair filled back in), I decided that the YAZ could be the problem. After all, it is the same brand and even thoug hit is a lower dosage, I find this very very suspicious. Has anyone else noticed hair loss while taking YAZ?

I had been on YAZ for about a year and a couple months. I was put on YAZ for PMDD after I had voluntarily taken myself off Otho Novum 777, which I had been on for 15 yrs. My experience with YAZ hasn't been good. I didn't realize that YAZ could cause so many side effects until my doc told me to try getting off of it to see if thats what was causing symptoms. I was having severe headaches daily, vision problems, muscle cramps and soreness, a weird skin rash on my arms and legs, weight gain, vaginal irritation after sex and no period in atleast a year and I'm not pregnant. Overall, just felt like c**p everyday!!! I have been off for about 6 days now and no headaches and I've already dropped 2 lbs. Yaz really helps with the emotional symptoms of PMDD, however to me it's not worth feeling like c**p everyday of my life. I'm 32 yo and married, but never had kids so I'm going to try not being on the pill for now. The risks of stoke and blood clots increases with age so not worth it to me!!

I have been on yaz for a week and I immediately noticed constipation. Im pretty regular and this pill is making it so that I have to use pills or eat a bunch of probiotics to go to the bathroom. I just switched off the nuvaring to Yaz and I am willing to give it three months because I really think it is very important to give yourself three months on any new pill before you go off it.
I was a wreck when I tried Alesse when I was 17 and nearly broke up with my boyfriend and hated all my friends for a couple days out of the the month, and then after 3 months or so, these symptoms went away. when i went on the nuvaring 2 years ago it was the same thing-I was depressed, moody, crying, fighting etc, and those symptoms went away after 3 months. I havent felt any emotional side effects on this pills so far, just the constipation. anyone else?
