i've been really glad to find this forum. yaz was a disaster for me- although it seemed for the first 2 weeks or so to even out my moods, things progressively got worse. after the first week, i could barely make it home from work before i crawled into bed for the night, and even when i woke up the next morning after 10-12 hours of sleep, i felt strung out and exhausted. i was so moody, especially with my boyfriend, that i turned every conversation into an argument- actually i'm surprised that my boyfriend stuck with me through all of that. once i started to develop blurred vision from the pill (1.5 months after starting it), i decided to call it quits. now, five days after stopping it, i feel so much better, and my vision has gotten back to normal. my major concern at this point is repairing relationships that deteriorated because of my moodiness on this pill and trying to get rid of the acne scars caused by the initial cystic-acne breakout i had on yaz. hard to believe this pill is still on the market.

I am so glad to have visited this site. I had just made the decision to go see a doctor about my anxiety. I have felt crazy for about two months-as long as I have been taking it. I did not even think about it until my friend mentioned it. So I thought about it and did some research and she was right. The reason I have been extremely tired, irritable, emotional, crazy, and very anxious-is because of YAZ. I can't stop worrying about things I can't control. I am a worrier but it has been ridiculous the past two months. So I am going to stop taking it and hopefully my great boyfriend will still be around!!

I've been on yaz for two months and started noticing symptoms about two weeks ago. I am really tired, extremely moody to the point of tears, paranoia, depression, racing thoughts, trouble sleeping at night. It is so out of my normal character that I talked to my dad who is a physician and he told me to stop taking it. Since then I have started to slowly get better, I just cant wait till this horrible drug is out of my system!

Dear All,

I am so relieved that I found this website and read all of your posts. I also thought I was going crazy since I am turning 30 this year and a lot of changes are happening in my life. But the way I have felt and acted the past 3.5 months I have been on YAZ I know is not me and is not normal. The first two months I had extreme breast tenderness to the point where I could not lie on my stomach. I was bloated, had spotting throughout the month, and had sharp stomach pains and cramps sporatically. All of these symptoms seemed to have subsided and then the emotional and irrationality began. I became extremely unhappy (for absolutely no reason since I found the love of my life, have a great job, family etc), depressed, iritable, angry for no reason, I snap at people and overall I just cant seem to "deal" with everyday life and the people around me. And in addition to that I was uterly exhausted. I could not sleep well, had pounding headaches, had my first panic attack, was having diarriah once a week, felt like it was an effort just to get out of bed and get dressed in the morning, was unable to get through a workout (when I was working out daily), and all I wanted to do was lie down and be alone. The past two weeks have been especially bad. I have been crying, frustrated and annoyed at my boyfriend who is literally the best person I have ever met and have been picking fights with him left and right. The other night we were walking home from dinner and a girl smiled at him and I lost it. And I am NOT the jealous type. I was scared about what was happening to me and then I read this website. I have now been off of it for 36 hours and am currently having horrible cramps but I am so happy I have an answer to what I felt was destroying my life the past 3 months.

Thank you everyone and I am going to tell as many people as I can about this.

I'm so relieved I found this site. I've only been on this stupid pill for a week and I thought I was insane. I haven't slept in two days...I don't know if that's due to the Yaz, but it's heightened the emotional instability. I don't cry normally very much at all, almost since I started this pill I haven't been able to stop. I don't get out of bed and I just cry at everything. I can't function anymore.

I took Yaz for 4 months and must say that during that 4 months I went from a very active person who worked out at the gym 2hrs a day 4-5 times a week to a person who didn't have the energy to do anything an all. I was tired all the time and always wanted to sleep. I told my Dr. my symptoms and he wanted to put me on antidepressants!! I am so glad I listened to my body and not my Dr. I can only imagine what would have happened to me had I listend to him and taken antidepressants and Yaz. I decided to change my birth control and within the first week I felt like I had been awoken from the living dead. Please If you are reading this and have these symptoms and are new to Yaz don't diregard this...STOP taking yaz now.

I am a 42 year old women who has been on YAZ for 6 months. This pill has helped my heavy bleeding, headaches, and mood problems. I feel like myself again. I recommend it for women in in the forties.

I am a thirty-nine year old woman who started taking Yaz a few weeks ago. I thought I was crazy at first that I could be having so many problems so quickly. I strarted taking the pills on the first day of my period and am still bleeding. I am moody and ill all the time, extremely tired, and my legs are aching constantly. So much for helping my symptoms! I am worse than ever!

This is my second month on Yaz and so far so good for me. Yes, I do have pregnancy symtoms like being tierd and have had sore breasts, but not all the time. Only right before my period, which is normal. I have not had a migraine for two months which is fabulous and my sex drive is better now than the last three years on various other pills/shots. It certainly isnt for everyone, but my hormones were horrible before using this. I dont feel as mean and hateful all the time anymore. Not sure how this will work long term, but it is OK for now. I have had a shift in weight where now my stomach looks bigger, but I havent gained any weight. So far this is the only weird thing I have noticed, but dont necessarily know if it is related ot the pill.

I am 27 and began YAZ Aug. of 2006 and continued using it for a year. I cannot tell you how comforting it is to read these posts...Honestly, I thought they were a by-product of marriage! (How miserable!) I experienced fatigue, migrane headaches once a month, extreme moodiness~ I would get angry so easily which is not me!, I was also very sensitive to temperature...I felt as though my blood was boiling (and not when I was angry). Since Sept. 2007, when I stopped using YAZ, I began to feel more like my old self...my relationship with my husband is flourishing! I was prompted to get off the medicine at the suggestion of my doctor. My LIVER enzymes were abnormal and my ANA was and is still very abnormally high. Please pray for these to go back to normal...has anyone else had issues with their liver or ANA (measures inflammation)? I had a PERFECT bill of health before taking birth control...from here on out, it's natural family planning for us!

I'm on my third month now of YAZ- - - the only positive thing about YAZ is I went from having my period for a near week and BAD PMS/Cramps to having it barely 1-2 days with NO pms and little bledding...BUT - I've noticed for the past 3 months, I am so TIRED. It's not even funny. I could get 8 hours sleep and 3-4 hours after I wake up, I am fighting back falling asleep. I am so tired and fatigued - I am barely dragging my butt all day at work. I can't even express enough how tired i am . Its scary. In addition, I've been getting BAD headaches just about every single day. I'm more than Moody as well.
I think I'd rather have a 7 day period and bad cramps than every single day of my life be so tired that I can't funtion properly. And ready to bite someones head off. After I finish my last pack here I am done. Wear a condom, get on proactive for acne, but get off YAZ! The side effects are crazy, well, atleast for me!

Hi,

I have been taking yaz for almost 3 yrs. I decided on yaz because i had pmdd and horrible cramps. The first 3 months were hell when it came to head aches and feeling very nauseous.

After the 3 months the head ached went away and I fell in love with yaz because I had NO PMS and NO CRAMPS.

Everything had been great until last month. I started feelng really tired and now this month the same but i also got a VERY hevy period full of huge blood clots and its been 2 weeks now. No pain... just the annoying period still going one. next sunday will be 3 weeks and i dont see it stopping.

I dont know if i should just not take it anymore or what to do.

Anyone any suggenstions?

My doctor just said to keep taking it and NO i did not have a miscarriage... sure looked like i did. My period was so heavy had to use a overnight pad and had to change it every 2 to 3 hrs... :x :x
