any side effects from using YAZ

Hi there, man y'all have totally scared me. I have had extreme tiredness, but I can tell you that a good multi-vitamin helps. I have also noticed the little muscle spasms but really no big deal. Everybody's body is different and Yaz works well for some people. BTW last time I was on YAZ I quit because of hair loss and I recently found out why that happens on bcp, the estrogen increases growth in the beginning like when your pregnant and then you lose all that extra hair. Good luck ladies.

My doc put me on Yaz to try and shrink a large ovarian cyst. This stuff is not worth it and the more research I do I find I am not alone. Since beginning this drug my head is foggy and I am exhaused. I just want to curl up and sleep. Yesterday I was sitting at my desk (my office is always freezing and I wear a sweater every day) and my ears and face started burning but my hands were ice cold. I have never experienced anything like that before. Oh, and my legs and feet are swelling too. I'm done.

to mogwai: i have thyroid problems and you are describing them to a tee! you might get it checked if you havent by now.

19 yr. old w/ PCOS; 3rd month on YAZ

First month:
- gained about 5-7 lbs. in a week and a half; seemed like I could eat celery and still gain weight :/
- skin broke out; not terrible, but definitely not something I enjoyed
- felt really tired
- headaches almost every day; but drinking water seemed to help
- breakthrough bleeding during week 3 (but I blame my timing to start the pill)
- breast tenderness
- light/short period

Second month:
- The day I started the second pack, I had the worst migraine of my life plus nausea
- symptoms improved: PMS was minimal (used to be BAD); body hair growth slowed and thinned a bit
- headaches were not as frequent as in the first month
- breast tenderness
- period was not as light/short, more like a normal period

Third month:
- Body hair is still improving
- headaches are still there
- I lost the weight I'd gained in the first month plus a couple of lbs. more (without changing anything) :]
- breast tenderness is still there, but not as bad
- for some reason, my body looks a little more womanly/feminine

All in all, the only thing that's making me consider getting off this pill or switching is the fact that I have to deal with headaches and migraines far more often than I'd like. I suffered with headaches/migraines before getting on this pill, but now I have them so often that it's hard for me to deal with.

That's been my experience so far, I read a lot about YAZ before starting the pill, and what I realized is that I can't know how it'll work with my body unitl I try it; everyone is different. I'm going to stick with it for a few more months and see if my body adjusts better or if the headaches are being caused by something else. I hope this was helpful and good luck! :]

I can't believe I'm seeing all these posts w/ the same results as me! I'm in week 2 of my third month of yaz. I have been exhausted to the point where my dr. was about to give me a test for mono. I have been extremly nauseated and just sick since I've been on them. I used them to help w/ cramping and such period effects and that kinda helped but now I'm so irritable I just started freaking out the other day and crying like crazy. I've always had short periods but I don't have any now, I just spotted my first two months, but I haven't had sex or done anything to think I could be pregnant and my abdomin has been hurting. Now that I've read all these posts I'm calling my dr. asap!!! thanks!

I started taking Yaz in January of 08 and I had severe pains in my lower back and abdomen a month back. I thought it was Yaz but my dr informed me that it was a muscle spasm. I'm not sure of that. Since then I have had headaches a lot, which I never got before, nausea, long periods. My last period was long, not usually like this, then I stopped and started again a day later and stopped again and started two days after that. Is anyone else having these symptoms and feeling horrible all the time?

I hate this pill. It has made me sad, moody, sick (uti and swollen tubes), anxious, and so much more. For the girl labeled guest above, I myself have experienced blurry vision this morning!!! I am so done with this pill I am not even finishing my pack. Oh and on top of all this my sex drive isnt where it was either. Ugh!
