Hello. I’m 15 years old and I got one question.
Recently (3 months ago) I had bed tonsillitis. It took it almost two months to heal and even now, I feel irritation on my tonsils when I eat or drink cold water.
But, something else is worrying me right now. I’ve noticed that I have big lumps on back portion of my tongue.
I don’t know how long I have them because I didn’t pay attention on it, and I don’t know is this normal but it looks kind of scary to me and I’m not sure what to do.
I am sure about one thing and that is - I don’t wonna tell my mother about this because she makes a big deal from everything.

I don’t know how can I help you because you didn’t say anything about color, size and location of this lumps.
You should know that you can normally find on your tongue some lumps.
In these lumps are gustative buds called taste buds.
Through them, you can feel taste. Only thing is that they are small and V shaped.
They may change their size if some bacteria colonize on it. Even some dental process may cause this.
Best thing for you is to find any anatomic atlas and see for your self how do they normally look and then compare them with yours. If they are really different-you must pay a visit to your doctor. Good luck with your research!
