I have to start with atican because of high blood pressure that I was diagnosed and also increased risk of heart failure that was found as connected with underlying hypertension. I’m interested in interactions of atican with other medications and foods, if there are any. I use one tablet in the morning, as a monotherapy, only once a day. Are there any interactions that can interfere with absorption or elimination of this medication? Please post, thanks in advance.

There are no important drug interactions reported that are in connection with this angiotenzin blocker, called atacand. As this medication can increase level of potassium in blood, other medications that have same effect like spironolactone, dyazide and potassium supplements should be used cautiously with atacand. The most common side effects of this drug are dizziness, nasal congestion, coughing, ear congestion and headache, but they usually go as organism becomes used to a drug. So, as I know, this medication is used exactly as you said, once a day. Interactions are possible when used along with colestipol resins, antidiabetics, other antihypertensives and nsaids. Resins interfere with absorption and should be avoided and the other drugs need to have adjusted doses.
