Hello. I'm 24 year old female and I have some questions about connections between birth control pills and sun tanning.
You see, I'm planning with my boyfriend to go and visit some of my relatives that are living on the cost. They invited us to come and rest for a few days and we agreed. I would also like to tell you that I'm using some birth control pills for about a year and I'm definitely planning to use them in future because I'm very happy with the results. But, my boyfriend told me that he read somewhere that it could be dangerous combine sun tanning and use of these medications? I didn’t believe him when he told me this, but, to be honest with you, I was thinking about it a lot lately and decided to get some information about it before our trip.

Well, I really don’t know a lot about this but I know some facts about it because I'm using these birth control pills for a long time and my doctor told me some facts before he prescribed me these pills. You see, your boyfriend was right when he told you that.
Whether you tan in the sun or in tanning booths, several medical studies have shown that, when combined with certain medicines such as birth control pills, cosmetics, and soaps- ultra violet rays can actually accelerate skin burns or produce painful adverse skin reactions. So, it could be very dangerous to go on direct sunlight unprotected. Talk with your doctor and ask him can you temporary use some other birth control method while you are on your vacation. Wish you luck!
