Recently I had permanent dull ache in lower stomach, cramping and unusual discharge. I visited my gyn to check it. A week ago I had pelvic exam and Pap test and a day after that bleeding occurred. It wasn’t just spotting it was real bleeding, like period and it was not period because I had it 10 days ago. This was my first pap test, is that the reason for bleeding? It was painful for me. Am still waiting for results of pap. Please post.

It is known that light spotting is common to occur within 24 hours after pap is done. When I had it was nothing like spotting, as you said, it was almost heavy bleeding. I called my gyn and she told me to visit her again. Actually, it is not that common but also is normal that bleeding caused by pap is heavy. It occurs in women that have very sensitive mucosa in cervix and when cells are removed for Pap test, tiny blood vessels are broken. That bleeding is external and benign. So in my case there was nothing wrong. I was afraid too, but couldn’t wait and called my gyn. You should do the same, before your results are done.

I have exactly the same problem as yours. My period was 10 days ago. After that a dull pain started in my lower abdomen and after a week or so, had a pinkish discharge. Had a pap test and started bleeding afterwards. Today is the second day and it has not stopped yet. I'm really tensed..

Oh wow i had a pap smear about four days ago! I had unusual pain in my abdomen and i actually felt i little sick. about a day or so ago i had a brownish discharge and today its bright blood! I'm very worried about it since it started a few days AFTER my smear....please reassure me someone!

I think that the spotting that you're experiencing might just be related to the pap smear. What do you suspect the issue is? I don't think that there is any reason for you to be concerned at this point. Does that help?

Is it normal to bleed after only a manual pelvic exam (no pap), and my lower stomach feel pressure/slight cramp?
