I'm 16 years old and been taking Apo-Naproxen for knee pains. After a week or so of taking the pills i began experiencing side effects (bitter taste, headaches, trouble sleeping). So i stoped taking them. that was 1 week ago and the side effects still remain. And to top it off I've been getting new symptoms. A burning sensation in my stomach an hour after every meal and early in the morning (3-4 am). Continual soreness on both flanks of my body under my kidneys. And bloody urine.
I know this may sound dumb but, should i wait for these symtoms to pass or do i go see a doctor?

Hi Frank:
I hope that you did not wait for these serious symptoms to fix themselves. I sincerely hope that you have answers now. It doesn't sound like your symptoms were related to the medication. It sounds like something else was going on. What did you find out? Was it related to the medicine or not? I really hope that you have gotten answers and treatment. I sympathize with you. Some of your symptoms sound unbearable. Please let me know how you are doing and what your diagnosis was. Also, did you find out if the medication could have been causing your problems. I hope that you are feeling much better.

Hi dsdesk:
Thank for your sympathy. In fact I didn't wait it out I went to a doctors 2 days after. But much to my regret didn't get the news I wanted. I didn't get news at all for that matter. After the doctor ran some tests and put me under observation for a couple of days, He told me there was nothing wrong with me. Every doctor that I went to told me the same thing. " We can't fix what we can't find." So even though some of my symptoms went away (bloody discharge) or were toned down ( migraines turned to headaches, constant soreness turned to on and off pain) or just stayed the same. I've been getting new symptoms like coffee ground vomit, jaundice in the eyes and blanching of the hair. I've learned to live with it. hopefully when I get my surgery to repair my knee they will find something else. In the meantime, We can only hope.

Wow, that's really unfortunate. You have actual jaundice and you're telling me that your doctors can't seem to find anything? I think that you need to find a new doctor or doctors to go to because that sounds like a serious issue (obviously you know that) that needs to be taken care of right away. If you could, maybe go to a different hospital or talk to your insurance about going out of network for coverage? I don't know quite how to advise you but whomever you're seeing, they don't know what to look for. Keep me posted!

dear bluedog:
I thought the same exact thing but I got fed up with my doctors so i said i can wait for the two weeks until my surgery. when i got to the OR I told my surgeon the symtoms that I was experiencing and he said "And they found nothing? what has our health care system come to." Finally, someone with common sense. after a quick conversation on what I was doing about it and I told him the medications I was taking he said that it was adverse side effects to the medication that I was taking and that the side effects can last a long time. So he told me if I was willing to stay in the hospital for a few days that he would put me on dialisis to clear my blood. Of course I said yes, and what'd you know. all my symtoms went away! If doctors would just ask questions that they were supposed to, I wouldn't have to wait so long to get answers. Canadien doctors are like the hospital gown I was wearing. I only thought I was covered. At least it was free.
