I just had this done, and in fact still have the camera in my esophagus.....I am having a lot of pain right now (this is day 6) and it is not detaching as I had hoped it would, even though my doctor says this is not terribly uncommon....Please, if you see me, let me know what your post is about because this worries me a lot....Thank you for your time....

I had the capsule placed Tuesday, 5/6/14.  As soon as I awoke, I could feel something "stuck" but thought it was just throat irritation from the procedure.  It got progressively worse.  I slept 3 hours that night and was in tears all day yesterday.  My doc told me he had only removed one in his 9 years of the procedure, so very rare at least for him.  But it was truly excrutiating.  I have viscous lidocaine for reflux symptoms and that did not help.  I've lost 6 pounds since then because it hurt too much to eat.  And for the record, I didn't have to eat for it to hurt.  It felt like spasms that came every 30 seconds or so...like my body was trying to get rid of something lodged (which technically I guess it was).

Finally was able to get to sleep at 1am this morning and woke to feel fine.  Canceled my appointment to have it removed.  I can still feel some irritation or something when I swallow, but NOTHING like yesterday.  Either my body kicked it out or just got over it.

I guess lesson learned for others - if you feel something lodged when you first get it placed, it's likely to get worse before it gets better.  For whatever the reason, you're not one of the folks who don't have sensation where it's placed or your body is going to fight having it there.

I had the Bravo ph done. It has been a week and 2 days and never saw the capsule come out. It is hard to take a bowel movement since I had it. Wonder if it is stuck in my colon. Can some one give me there input.

IN REPLY TO CAPSULE TEST SO JUST HANG IN:
Few months back I had a colonoscopy. And like everybody has had constipation sometime in their life. I happen to be one of those "chronic" people. My doctor said I needed to avoid laxatives as much as possible so I decided to go back into childhood days and do old fashion enemas. Cut to the chase, I see pieces of paper with possible bar codes. SAY WHAT? Then... out comes a glass cylinder that scared the life out of me. I first thought something was left behind during the colonoscopy. One end felt sharp so fear arose of glass being inside of me. It had been a week since the PH monitoring so thought I would start there to see what this capsule looked like. Being this appears to be glass like & sounds like just cannot imagine how it is suppose to dissolve. Anyway, I have a souvenir from an unexpected source of which I still find it hard to believe. Glad it's out because it was really aggravating me. One thing for sure! Glad I did not call 911 for an ambulance or get my daughter out of bed ~ then sit all night in the ER!

I have a client who died recently as a result of a perforated colon (cecum) caused by a Bravo device lodging in the cecum. I am not the original poster here - and I am a lawyer.
Thank you.
