Had this put in on Thursday and had to go to the ER because I was in so much pain. They ended up taking it out the next day via a scope. 2 days after that I am still in a lot of pain. Chest pains and feel like I’m having a heart attack and feel like I can’t breath. Hurts to swallow. Do not get this test done. It’s awful!!

I had the Bravo 96 hour ph pill attached to my lower esophagus 10/31/2022.
As of today, Dec 16, 2022….
If is still in my body attached to my Cecum!
It has been 7 weeks! It is painful at times and extremely upsetting to know it is there. In 5 days they will attempt to retrieve it with colonoscope with a special attachment to grab it. I’m sorry you are having problems as well. I guess the good news, for me, is that it is basically diagnostic when this happens as it means something is blocking (ex. strictures, mass, polyps) and can help my Dr understand why I’m so constipated all the time.

I agree with you. I couldn't eat at all. I had severe chest pain. I'm on my 11th day.

I had the Bravo implant 4 days ago. I just brought back the monitoring device. I have had alot of chest pain in my back and most recently towards the front. It is very painful to swallow and even very smooth foods at times it still hurts. It feels like a spasm and a knife stabbing my insides. I have been nautious as well and feel bloated. I had this test done because I had a fundoplication surgery last year as an annual checkup. Not a word was mentioned to me about potential side effects especially pain. I find that to be very alarming. I havent wanted to combine to my surgeon and have been patiently waiting for it to dislodge and leave me. Meanwhile if it keeps bothering me this bad I may have to go get checked up with at the er or something. It doesn't seem right to have so much discomfort especially when it wasn't even mentioned as a possibility.

Hello, guest.

The Bravo pH monitoring system is used to measure and monitor the pH or acidity level in the esophagus to help diagnose gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and to determine the effectiveness of medications or surgeries that are intended to prevent acid reflux.

While some mild discomfort may be reported after the procedure, the symptoms you're describing sound more severe than typical side effects. Some people might experience the sensation of the capsule, mild chest discomfort, and difficulty swallowing. However, severe pain, nausea, and bloating are not typical post-procedure symptoms.

Given your symptoms, especially the severity of the pain you are describing, you should definitely seek medical attention. It's essential to communicate with your surgeon or another healthcare professional to discuss your symptoms. If you feel that your symptoms are acute or worsening rapidly, going to the ER is a good idea.

Good luck!

My daughter almost died from a complication from rfid exact surgery. It was horrific, & I’m not sure I’ll ever get over it.

My daughter had one placed on Monday 4/8. She has had trouble eating and drinking since it went in. Called the ER Wed night and the GI doctor said he would not remove it. Called the doctor that placed it on Thursday and they said they wouldn't take it out before the time was up. Made an appt for today, Friday 4/12. They went in and... it was stuck! They could not push or pull it. They had to cut it out. This Bravo device has been horrible! I hope the doctor gets what they need from it. Should have just put a couple stiches in the sphincter.
