ok well i have to admit i am really confused. I am 17 and live with my boyfriend(well he lives with me and my dad). I am on the Depo shot and have been for over a year now. Started a few months ago, i started randomly bleeding. I dont get my period because of the shot hardly so i figured that it was just that. Well only a few weeks after the bleeding, the color became more brownish. Then i went to get it checked and she said when she touched me inside i bled a little but nothing to worry about. Here it is months later and now the color has changed a light brown and always come after i cum. I know its gross but i lay down in the shower to to let the water get in me and then let it out and its always filled with brown discharge. Then tonight me and my boyfriend had sex and when i went to clean myself off, the color was completely light brown. I am really nervous cuz i have sex not too often and i dont want to tell my parents why i need to go to the doctors. Any ideas?

Well, there could be a couple of possible reason but to be honest I think you need to have a full physical/pelvic examination.

The bleeding you are experiencing is not normal, even though if it’s coming from the shot, it has been too long.

Different growths and disorders could be causing the discharge and you may be too young to experience any of them but considering you started having sex early, you should have it checked.

The doc who looked at you didn’t act right (in my opinion), she should have ordered an ultrasound to check if there were any growths like polyps or abnormal cells on your cervix (the beginning of the uterus) or that cysts on ovaries haven’t developed.

Most of these problems are more-less benign except for the possible abnormal cells on the cervix that could lead to cancer. These cells grow very slowly and it takes them years to become cancer. An early diagnose will take care of the problem.

STD’s like Chlamydia could also lead to bleeding between periods and I really think you should have it checked.
