There may be something wrong, it's not normal to have brown discharge and cramps lasting so long, the normal length a period should last is 5 - 7 days, mostly for 5 days, and your only meant to have a period on average once every 28  - 35 days, but normally every 28 days,  you should tell your mum about the brown discharge and the cramps you've been getting over the past 5 months.

You will want to look up Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, it's actually a common dition in women and medical researchers have found it to be heradatory and may be because of a condition with the pituitary gland, they have found females with PCOS have different reproductive hormone genes connected to the pituitary gland, they have witnessed this in female monkeys and instantly if not a year or 2 later of beginning their periods is when you start to see problems because the pituitary gland stops working, so far though there is no cure or anything for this and all they do is offer the pill or tell you to eat healthy and lose weigh, which really has no real basis and are probs just comparing how it helps people with diabetes because atm they seem to think some women with PCOS have insulin resistance, but again no proper evidence on that. A lot of women don't know about this condition because doctors and nurses at hospitals don't want you to know because with no cure they can't be bothered with dealing with it and just look to make money off women trying to get pregnant with all sort of different pills that helps them conceive, if successful, but they still made money anyway... Excessive hair growth, irregular to zero periods, depression, anxiety, mood swings, zero energy, fatigue, feeling weak, dizzy and faint, thick or thin uterus lining, bigger fibroids, heavy periods, bad menstrual cramps, red/dry eyes, irregular sleep patterns, waking up a lot, insomnia, feeling cloudy and out of body, blood clots, profusely sweating and night sweats, flushing on the face and chest, feeling irritable, scatter brained, restless, achy, flue like symptoms, and probs more are all symptoms of PCOS, and the stomach aches feel like really bad acid reflux, your sick and then tired out after due to maybe a huge fibrioid popping, which hurts the stomach lining because of all the acids that develop inside it. If you didn't bleed a little bit then most likely never got a period, or maybe it was but without bleeding or very little and as i've witnessed having just finished a period 3 days ago after a year of not having one, that was unusually light for what i normally got, blood can dry up and go brown before it exits and comes out brown, first day i just got brown residue, second day just a bit of pinky blood but more brown blood, 3rd and 4th days i was getting some red blood, 5th day back to brown blood, this happens because your body is warmer on the inside and speeds up the process of blood oxidizing turning it brown, so you may of gotten a period but without any bleeding, the cramps may indicate you had a period though. It's not unsual for PCOS to have lighter periods, i may of had several period with obsoletely zero symptoms and not known about it.
