If you have a bulging disk that is not pushing against the spinal column surgery is contra-indicated. However if your surgeon deems the surgery as necessary going through your neck is the normal route for the cervical spine. This is the best way to reach the cervical discs that are causing your pain and discomfort. Do not worry, the surgeon has probably done this surgery dozens if not hundreds of time. It is the safest way to go.
