I've had several fusions done and redone after a non-union. Recently I had my c6,c7 redone. My surgeon decided to install rods and screws on both sides, along with other hardware. By the time I got to go home, I had lost use of middle and ring fingers. It is known as drop finger. I'm not able to lift these two fingers upward off a flat surface, like I can with all my other fingers. I've come to learn it is the flexion nerves, ulner nerve root nerve??? I'm not sure. I also have pain running down my left shoulder, through the tricep and down to my fingers. Also, weakness in my entire arm, by 50%. He went back in and removed the left side hardware. This produced no results. My surgeon is going to go back in, remove the remaining hardware and do a different procedure. There is already a cage/bone medimorfis protein (BMP) at c6-c7, with a 4 screw plate on the front side. So, my questions are: Is there any type of stainless steel u-joint type hardware that can be put between these two vertibra, taking the place of the cage as well as the C4 C5 level? Also, if there is a part of the hardware putting pressure or pinching the nerve going down my arm, when it is removed, will that nerve ever be the same? I was quite an accomplished guitar player, but as of now, I can't play it at all. I'm sorry for being so long winded on this question, but I'm desparate to be able to play again, as well as type better and write more legibly. Anyone with any info, would very much so be appreciated.
