I really need help my mom is suspecting and I can't have herfind out. And I need to know if my mother will be in the room when I have my first papsmere. Well when I start she said she is going to take me to an obgyn and will she be in the room. Cause I can't have her see my v. It does not look very pretty. Thank you. Please help.

Hi, your masturbation will have nothing to do with not starting puberty yet.
Is it just that you have not started your periods yet or have you got no signs of puberty?
Over here in England you don't normally go to have your first pap smear until you become sexually active not at your age or after you get your period, I wouldn't worry about your mum booming in with you as you should be able to ask to have the screen drawn so she can't watch.
Why do you think your vagina isn't pretty?

Well its not Pretty and I have had every sign of puberty just no period. And thank you very much about telling me about the pap smear thing. It makes me feel way better. I thought you had to see an obgyn when you started. Thank you.

Hi, here is some more info on pap smears I have just read up on.
There are various recommendations going around the internet about when to have a first pap smear, but the American Cancer Society suggests that a woman's first pap smear should be done within 3 years of her becoming sexually active or by the time she reaches the age of 21. This leaves much to be discussed with the gynecologist though because the age of sexual activity has steadily gotten lower and lower. Girls these days have been known to be sexually active as young as 10 years old making the age for a first pap smear more like 13 than 21!
I still don't know why you think your vagina isn't pretty though, a vagina is like a finger print and unique in shape and size and how it looks and colour to all females :-)

But I also really want to know can masturbation delay your period?

There is nothing wrong with me, I am perfectly healthy but my period is not here yet.

And I am 14 years old. All of my friends have it already, my mom got it when she was 12, so I guess that something is wrong with me, right?

I do pleasure myself for three years now, three or four times per week. This could be because of it, right?

If I stop doing this, my period will come finally?

Let me know what do you think. I don't want to go to my doctor.

On a related note, if a female has had pap smears every year for a few years (did not have a pap smear after first period, but a year or two later) and is not yet sexually active (and not yet 21), does she still need a pap smear every year?

Hi camogirlvet, as far as I know in England they say you don't need to have one done until you become sexually active or over 21 or have history of cervical cancer that stop in the family, but I'm not 100% sure but will try to find out and sort the answer here :-)

Thank you, but I do not live, nor have been to, England. I am an American. I would not think that American recommendations would be much different than those of England.

Is a person sexually active if he/she was forced to have intercourse as a baby/young child, but has not even been touched by a man (in a sexual manner) since? Well, besides hugging.

Hi camogirlvet, I know your American but I was just stating what English medical journals say as have read up on some American ones and some say totally different, one American site I read on says that it is after first time of intercourse and another says after first period.
As for your other question I would say if it was just a one off occurrence then no you don't need to unless your having any unusual symptoms. :-)

An sexually active I would say after you start to have intercourse protected or unprotected regularly.
