can vitamins make u have a fishy foul smell in the vagina

I absolutely had the most disgusting smell with fish oil. I panicked and went to my Dr (who suggested the fish oil in the first place) and ran all the STD tests. I came up negative. When I went away for a mini-vacation I forgot my pills and the smell went away so I stopped taking them and all the smell was gone. In an effort to replace the Omega-3 I started taking Flax Oil and got another vaginal odor. It wasn't as bad but I still don't like it so I discontinued that as well. All the other medical sites said this is not possible but they don't know what they are talking about. My brother is on fish oil and has no problems so I guess it is up to the individual.

I started taking Krill Oil to lower triglycerides per my doc recommdation. I hate regular fish oil as It's like I belch sardines all day and night.  Krill never does that, I take it before bed.  After a few months, I began to worry that I had some kidney filtering issue as my urine odor was horriffic.  I did a self test.... quit taking the Krill.  This is day 4 and my pee has no odor, that isn't normal.  Before it was like I sooooo bad.  I will take the Krill, as my 61 yr old body needs it, but won't worry I have kidney issues.  

yep!  My hubby and i both smell like fish down there -started right about the time i bought some new extra strength omega 3 & started eating more fish & shrimp!  no sign of infection -  im going to decrease my intake cause the odor's worse on me but i would never quit fish oil - i swear by it!!!!

Lol love that last line. My sense of humor is like yours. Now on to fish oil, these ppl confirming are correct. I first noticed with my husband, in his semen about 4 years ago. Now I've been taking for a week and I noticed the odor and I thought, "what is going on?......flashback to hubby......Could it be?". Yes it could and it was. No more fish oil here either!

Your term 'stinking pills' made me laugh, but I agree with you completely. I've almost finished a 100 capsule bottle and, whilst the smell isn't as strong as when I first started taking them, it's still very much there. I even asked my doctor about the disgusting effect. He didn't think it would be the Omega 3 and told me to send off a sample for testing. My doctor is great but, sorry, this time he's wrong. It's the capsules that are causing the awful smell. From today I've stopped taking them. Will see how long it takes to flush the fish smell out of my system. Like you, I've never smelled bad before taking these supplements. From the time I wake, this awful stink is just stuck in my nose, it's disgusting.

Pity your wife couldn't have quit the capsules rather than making life unbearable for you. I understand your reasons though. I'm most of the way through my first bottle of Omega 3 capsules and, heck, I find it difficult to live with me. I'm quitting them today (had already reached that decision last night but just doing a bit of online research today confirmed it). I'm glad you have an enjoyable sex life again now with your new wife. People can say what they like but intimate pleasure is important in a relationship :-).

Started sporadically taking B-complex and Fish Oil earlier this month.....didn't notice any smell. Today is day 3 of menstruating.....didn't take fish oil on day #1 or #2.....took it today.....and WOW....the reviewer who said they noticed a smell in as little as 4 hours was dead on! Couldn't figure out what it was....not overwhelmingly fishy, but strange and strong....maybe medicinal with a hint of fish, which is what finally triggered the thought that it could possibly be the fishoil which has lead me on this search. It will be interesting to see if it only affects me when I am menstruating. One more month will tell!

I agree. I started taking vitamins for two months and I started smelling very fishy down there. It's embarrassing. I stop for a week and the smell is gone. I stop taking them for a month and I don't notice any odd smell. So just recently I started taking them again and guess what the smell is back.
