can vitamins make u have a fishy foul smell in the vagina

Oh thank the gods I'm not the only one with this issue! I recently moved from Texas (nice and humid - good for the hair and skin) to Wyoming (dry and arid - not so easy on my hair and skin). To combat the dryness of the climate here, I started taking fish oil pills. I don't tend to have any odors down there - I keep myself clean, drink plenty of water, etc. So when I started smelling THAT smell, I got worried. No itching or burning, so I figured I'd Google it. I'm relieved it's nothing more serious than the fish oil pills causing that smell!

I take omega3 and my muffin is beautiful and has scent of roses. Clean your damn selves or go to a doctor instead of blaming it on a capsule

Condemning aren't you? You are not part of the solution but part of the problem with an attitude like that. I have read all these and nowhere did these people act like they don't clean themselves. They were truly worried as was kind of so I thought I would google it. I have used fish oil supplements on and off for years. I recently got a krill one on 'sale' and almost immediately noticed a smell taking 3 gelatins at 300 mg each a day. Cut it out for a day and half and smell was gone. Just took one 300 mg yesterday, after being off them for about a week, and smell came back. I think it is just a cheap brand maybe even rancid or my other vitamins are out of whack. I now have no smell again. I will try another kind. So please quit cussing at us. You act like know it all Dr.'s...

Troll.. Just because it doesn't happen to you, doesn't mean it doesn't happen to others. 

I didn't know this was a problem till I started taking Krill oil. I had noticed the smell in my bathroom that had a few of my dirty underwear. I didn't connect it to the fish oil for a couple of days. Our babysitter said she could smell fish in my bathroom (my underwear were not in there). I thought the cat left something in there. I finally realized it might be the krill. My underwear smells very much like the krill. I think krill smells even worse than omega 3 vitamins. I have now pitched them in the toilet. I don't have any discharge or redness. I won't let my husband touch me till this stuck is gone and I have a few showers. Now that I think about it...I thought it was my age making me smell (I always had a clean smell before per my partners)...it changed in my 40s. Maybe it could be another vitamin? I will do the elimination test.

The fact that you call it a muffin shows you aren't mature and no one smells like roses. Otherwise only bees would be attracted to you.

I started taking RED KRILL fish oil and low and behold, 1 day layer my tooth smelled like fish, exactly as a vaginal infection. I stopped the Krill Oil and the smell was gone by the next day. I tried the pill again, 1 week later, same result! I was really looking forward to taking these for the health benefits but this side effect is not worth it to me. Of course, I looked this up on Google and "WOHOO" , I see that others have had the same experience. I love that I can verify issues on sites like this. A doctor would have prescribed medication. No more KRILL for me.

Happened to me too don't know if I can tolerate this side effect.

I noticed when I hadn't taken them in a few weeks it was the complete opposite. I started to notice a fishy smell because I hadn't taken my salmon oiI. I never had that smell before not even when I have my period. I definitely think Vitamins or Fish oil can have side effects on your body. Did you ever notice after eating asparagus your pee smells? Ew.. Try freezing them before you take them and use a good brand.

Do you know what kind of prenatal you were taking? I'm just taking women's one a day and the walmart brand and im experiencing this!

Yes, krill oil will cause a fishy smell in the vagina. I started krill oil about 6 months ago and noticed the smell. I did not have an infection nor am I sexually active. Once I stopped, the smell went awsy!

Krill has a different affect on the body than omega 3 pills. It has nothing to do with cleanliness. I use to take omegs 3 with no problem, but tried krill because it was supposed to be better. However, krill caused vaginal odor. It is sad that you feel so pompous about this problem. Try krill oil yourself before you judge others who have used it.

The vagina should have a non offensive odor. It should not EVER smell like fish!
