I was recently diagnosed with Candida. I would appreciate if someone could tell me more about it? Is this common condition, because I have heard that a lot of women have it? What is it all about?

Candida Albicans is a destructive yeast infection that begins in the digestive system and little by little, it spreads to other parts of the body. It remains in a healthful balance with other bacteria and yeasts in the intestinal tract but excessive stress, lowered immunity or the long-term use of steroids can make the candida yeast to multiply. Also, Candida overgrowth can be a consequence of antibiotic treatment because antibiotics not only kill pathogens but also a large number of those bacteria that are part of a healthy gastrointestinal flora. Candida can also be found on the body as jock itch or athlete's foot and it can appear in the mouth as thrush, and in babies it appears as a diaper rash. Candida is very common in the vaginal tract, known by many women as a yeast infection and it is believed that 30% of the population suffers from health issues related to yeast. The majority of people who have Candida do not realize they have it until become seriously ill. I hope that this information was helpful.
