Candida Albicans is a destructive yeast infection that begins in the digestive system. Little by little, it spreads to other parts of the body. It is present in all of us not long after birth and it remains in a healthful balance with other bacteria and yeasts in the intestinal tract. Excessive stress, lowered immunity or the long-term use of steroids can make the candida yeast to multiply. Candida overgrowth can also be a consequence of antibiotic treatment. This happens because antibiotics not only kill pathogens but also a large number of those bacteria that are part of a healthy gastrointestinal flora. An overgrowth of candida in babies appears as diaper rash. Candida can also be found on the body as jock itch or athlete's foot and it can appear in the mouth as thrush. Also, it is very common in the vaginal tract, known by many women as a yeast infection. It is believed that 30% of the population suffers from health issues related to yeast. It is interesting that the majority of people who have Candida do not realize they have it until become seriously ill.
