My grandfather is 71 years old and has just been hospitalized. He has some heart problems so he will spend couple of days there for tests and examination. He has been complaining on the chest pain and shortness of breath in last month so he checked in with his doctor. Now, he is waiting for Cardiac Catherization. I would like to know something more about this procedure.

Cardiac catheterization is a diagnostic method for examination of heart's structure. It can tell us about the condition of coronary arteries. A catheter is used, it is inserted in arteries or veins. Then, a contrast medium is injected into a catheter and with its help, we get all the info about coronaries and how good, if at all valves and heart muscle are functioning.
