I have same - low thyroid (but normal with meds) and low blood pressure. One area that kept breaking continually eventually formed a lump that became incredibly painful and had to be removed surgically. No clue as to the cause, but it happens around the joints on the inside of my hand and usually when I'm doing something active like cooking dinner, cleaning bathroom, etc.

Achenbach's syndrome. It is considered "rare", but better described as "rarely reported" or "commonly misdiagnosed". Cause is unknown - but it is a skin condition (small blood vessels bursting over the finger joints) not a circulation condition. It is harmless, stings and swells at first, becomes a non-painful bruise eventually, and heals itself. It can happen due to slight pressure injury, but more often spontaneous. This showed up when I was a young teen, I'm in my fifties now, it happens two or three times a year. Annoying, but harmless - unfortunately, when misdiagnosed it is usually mistaken for something much worse (liver condition, blood pressure condition, Reynaud's syndrome, etc) Achenbach's requires no treatment.

I don’t smoke, don’t work with cold produce or anything else cold. I have been having blood vessels burst for awhile now and just figured I did something wrong, until today. I had one burst when I was doing minimal work. I put a cold compress on and it got better. I am looking to see why this happens.

thanks. You are helpful and not all doom and gloom like the rest of the medical advice.

I broke a blood vessel in my finger and now it is very cold. Is this normal? The bruise is over 2 knuckles, it is swollen and quite purple. What should I do?

I am also breaking blood vessels, once turning on the water, today I rubbed my finger because it was itchy, now it is bruised and swollen. Popping is accurate. It happens out of the blue, not all the time; which, is why I think I could do something to help strengthen them. I have cold hand s and feet from time of childhood, but, the busting of blood vessels has just started in my mid sixties. I'm 72 now.
