Hi,

My fiance's condom broke during sex, he realized it broke after the fact. I felt a lot of liquid inside me and figuerd it was from me but when he said the condom broke I realized that it must have been from him. I quickly checked what day I was on in my cycle and it was the 15th day. I usually get my period every 27 days. So I must have been ovulating. We're not ready for children so, I immediately went to the drug store and got Plan B. I took it about 10 minutes later. So in total time, I took Plan B about 40 minutes after intercourse. My question is, If I am indeed ovulating and there is an egg in place waiting for penetration from sperm, how long would it take the sperm to find its way to the egg and actually fertilize it? I mean could it have happened before the 40 minutes? I didn't have any symptons from Plan B right away, but now, (3 days later) I am feeling an uncomfortable feeling in my pelvis area more toward the left side. Feels slightly crampy and my lower back is achy. What are the chances that I could be pregnant?

Hi: You have 72 hours too take the morning after pill, just because you ovulate on a certain day - DOESN'T mean that is when you WILL get pregnant. It just raises the odds a little. The Plan B/Morning After Pill stops the egg from being fertilized, and is 97- 99% effective. So don't worry too much about it. The cramping right now might be from the pill, but it isn't one of the common side effects from the pill. You should be just fine. Good luck!
