I believe I have Chigger bites on my inner thighs. The symptoms are redness and localized swelling similar to a mosquito bite. There are about 15 bites on each thigh and are irritating as they are itching! >:(

My son had the same synptoms on his legs which happened the day after attending an outdoors ceremony in San Antonio, TX over a week ago. Now I have them, which begs the question if they are transmitted between people. Hard to believe that over a week passes before I start showing symptoms similar to his.

We dealt with our sons bites by applying a clear finger nail polish on each reddened area which after 2 days he "popped the head" on each of them. Is this the correct and most expedient means of dealing with them?

Hello there,

Since you are only presuming that you have the same thing as your son I wouldn’t be so sure in that. Go and see your doctor because if the same symptoms appeared in your son and week later in you maybe you have something in your home that is causing these bites and the first diagnosis was wrong.

After your doctor determines what is really going on, you will be able to get the right treatment. You can try to experimente on your own but this is never good solution and it can end up badly if you don’t have Chiggers. I hope that you will resolve your problem soon, and keep us posted about further events.

I have always been told to put clear fingernail polish on chigger bites. Now I read that this is not good at all. Since it seems to work, why is it so bad for you?
