I think I have conjunctivitis. I know all the symptoms because my younger sister had it last month. Probably my doctor will prescribe me chloramphenicol eye drops. Can somebody tell me his or her experience with this medication and can you give me good advice? May I expect some problems? Thanks!

Chloramphenicol eye drops may cause mild burning or stinging in the eye. This should disappear as your eyes get used to the new drops. The most important thing is to use it exactly as directed by your doctor. You should continue using chloramphenicol eye drops for a further 48 hours after the eye appears normal, to ensure that all of the bacteria have been killed.
