Chloramphenicol is antibiotic and it used in the treatment of infections caused by bacteria. It kills bacteria and prevents their growth. Usually chloramphenicol is used to treat infections of the eye or ear. As I know, the main use of this medication is in eye drops or ointment for bacterial conjunctivitis.
