Hi, guys. My friend’s kid has been diagnosed with Landau-Kleffner syndrome. I know this is loss of speech. I would like to know if here a complete speech recovery is possible. What would you say about this? I would really appreciate all your replies considering this topic. Thanks in advance, guys.

Hi, there. Since there isn’t a greater number of cases with Landau-Kleffner syndrome, there are no some valid evidences. Complete language recovery has been registered. Nevertheless, mostly the language problems continue to exist in adulthood. If there is a recovery, it happens within days or years. The sooner LKS starts, the poorer outlook is. Presence or absence of seizures does not have much impact on language recovery. Your friend should take his kid to an expert in any case. I hope everything will be all right. Bye!
