In June of 2013, I was diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) or Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD). I started having pain on February 28, 2012. It took 6 surgeries, 15 MRIs, 20 x-rays, & 3 hospitalizations to get diagnosed. I have been to the ER probably 12 times for unbearable pain. Many doctors said the pain was "In my head". The pain was not in my head! The pain started in my left hip, then spread down my leg to the tips of my toes, then went up my back and down my left arm. It felt as if someone was taking a steak knife and ripping it down my leg, arm, and back 24/7. I was in crutches, in a wheelchair, and wore leg braces for a long time. None of the pain medications helped. Not even Morphine… If you have been diagnosed with this rare and painful condition, please know you are not alone. Feel free to message me… Facts about CRPS: It is more common in adults It is three times more likely to occur in female It can take up to 3 years to be diagnosed The pain is NOT IN YOUR HEAD!
