The med is called Amitiza. My sample is just one night after taking one with dinner. Results are great so far. Since 3 AM I have had 5 BMs and all of them were easier to pass and I am empty enough to not feel restricted and bloated today. This is good so far. I had tried Linzess and it was not good for me. All I had was diarrhea for 2 hours after a dose for 1 - 2 hrs. So, I could not work etc.

Hi,
Ok I see you got 7 messages already. Close for achievement.

Yesterday I visited my doctor. I raised only question about stenosis and my suspicions about it. He did digital examination with dicain, which hurted a bit in fissure place. He told everything is tender around, and there is no stenosis. Even more hi smiled so much and almost laugh when I offered GA and check with different diameters my hole. He told this is something not to be done at this stage and will make my fissures and healing places only worse. Not necessary! He was looking very convinced that I don't have any problems, and this fissure is just not healed wound from external hemm cuts.

He showed he wanted me to go away, and explained that stenosis is rigid ring formed from cut places which are located around anus, which makes openning narrowed when they connects and form scars.. As I had extensive cut only on one side(right) I cannot get any stenosis.

"Why do you I have thin BM?" The answer was following, you have unhealed wounds(ulcers, fissure) which reacts on bowel movement and spasm due to pain, therefore I am getting narrow BMs.

"What next?" Continue like I did, and time will heal everything.

So these is an outcome of my visit. Should I believe and continue?

I'm lucky that I didn't get any fissures, so I can't speak from experience. I have seen others' posts about spasms from fissures causing narrow BMs. It's so hard to know when to believe doctors and when to question them. My doctor did describe my stenosis as a tough, fibrous ring just inside my anus (please excuse the crass terms, but I'm not really sure where the anus technically starts) so his description matches what your doctor said. I have checked myself by inserting my finger a couple of times (after it was dilated so I COULD stick my finger in) and it does feel tight and tough. When I used to insert suppositories (pre-surgery), I remember it feeling smooth and firm (I guess that's from the muscle) but not rigid like I feel now. I don't know if this helps you.

Hi Igor,

I contacted support, they block private messages until 10 posts from a user. Spam control! So, I guess I have to create some more posts.

***this post is edited by moderator *** *** private e-mails not allowed***Please read our Terms of Use

, so if you want to communicate offline, we can do it there. I will send you my email once you contact me there. Lets keep trying to help each other. I am getting a colonoscopy and working with my GI doc and making some headway. Amitiza has been helping me with some of my issues, the first med to actually do something that helps other than some steroid cream (itch and pain relief) and such (but not good to use too much of that, causes thinning of the tissue if used a bunch). Chat with you soon.

I had hemorroid surgery and the Dr. DID NOT PRESCRIBE ANTIBIOTICS!!!....AND I GOT AN INFECTION....DUH!....... DID YOURS?.....Why on earth would a DOCTOR NOT prescribe them given the location of the surgery?.......Think about it!... If you develop an anal abcess (bacterial infection)..... he gets another surgical procedure (paycheck!)

The scar tissue is the cause for the stenosis. I have the same thing. Also, the scar tissue on the ones side can make the passage not straight, so this makes it harder to excrete the fecal matter. Lots of fiber and some stool softeners or osmotic stuff for IBS has helped me.

I wasn't prescribed antibiotics either. But I didn't get an infection so that wasn't a problem for me. I don't know what the frequency is of infection. It seems like it would be high (open wound + poop, so there should be some ecoli in there).

I had my hemorrhoidectomy exactly 7 days ago, and while I am doing a ton better than the first two days, I am still in pain, I am incontinent, wanting to either pee or poo all the time and it's getting old now.

I have been eating fruit, wheat bread, yogurt, today I had feta cheese, and yesterday I had tuna with lettuce no bread.

I feel like an id**t for not coming here before the surgery but everyone is right and even my doctor said so "I didn't want to tell you about the pain because I didn't want you to be discouraged from having the procedure". This runs in my family and my case was about a 3.2 on the hemorrhoid scale, my sister was a 4 and it took her a month to fully recover but she had an infection after the first week which was even worse.

I feel like an id**t because I could've been better prepared, and feel my recovery period is now being prolonged because of it. Since I've come here and read all of your stories, it's kind of made me feel a bit better because there is a proverbial light at the end of this miserable tunnel.

I'm trying to hang in there, every one else who has experienced this or plans to please do the same.

I felt way better at the 2 week point MikeG423, so give it another week. I was able to go out and walk around Walmart for a bit even at that point! I hope it goes that way for you too. My mom had this done when she was in her 70's and she bounced back to normal after just a couple of days. Everyone is different.

Thank you tb1, I fell asleep about 3 hrs ago and woke up from the spasms of wanting to go. I just spent 20 minutes in a sitz bath (which I created myself on day three and perfected on day five because of my unpreparedness) and feel so much better than I did about an hr ago. For those of you reading this I HIGHLY recommend the sitz bath. When I am more up to it I will take photos of my makeshift sitz bath for anyone considering the procedure.

tb1, I hope that your infection does not further complicate your healing and I truly hope that you are right about feeling better after two weeks, but I would do anything to get better earlier. I am able to sit, and walk without much pain, but it's the spasms that are destroying my spirit.

I reluctantly took an oxy pill and a 1/4 of a valium pill. Now I am just going to try and go back to sleep. On the whole, if I had to do this again I would, but I would be a whole lot more prepared. Hindsight is 20/20 folks

Went back to sleep and woke up at 5 AM with spasms again. I had a BM which was not as painful as the day before, but I want to go again, and I don't and CAN'T force it, even though I would really love to. I think in addition to having the hemorhhoidectomy, I am going to have to address an enlarged prostate because I can't seem to get both to work together. I know that my system is out of whack but how long would it be going through this???!

I am a systems admin so computers are in my everyday life. If I couldn't post for the first 7 days, that should be a clear indication of how painful this thing is. Nothing can hold me back from working but this did and even though I am posting now, I am in spastic pain. When I was a kid, I used to get debilitating ear infections (I remember because of the level of pain) I can only compare this experience to that. I read a post somewhere about passing kidney stones and I certainly don't want to experience that but this is no where near fun.

I'm 44 yrs old, what scares me the most is that I am going to have to deal with this for the rest of my life.

It sucks... It sucks it sucks it sucks...
