I had the Mirena IUD put in about 3 weeks ago. I had my period for a week before I got the IUD two days after it was over. I have not stopped bleeding since I got it and I have pretty constant cramps in my lower back (which is normal for me when I get my period). I know its only been a few weeks but I have read a lot of reviews and I'm worried about putting my body through this with with no positive outcome. For instance if I am going to bleed for another 6 months to a year I don't think I want this... I wanted some opinions or advice because I don't know what to do

Thought I was the only on with this problem. I've had my IUD since Jan 2011. In June I started bleeding (last normal period was May) and I have not stopped. I saw my doctor who initially thought it was stress but now she's sugguested birth control pills because of what my ba low estrogen. Hope this helps. I'm probably going to take this damn thing out! The forst 18 month was cool but after that.....this is NOT for me

wow man i seriously thought this IUD thing was going to be such a smart idea since i don't want to have anymore kids. i got mine inserted on the 14th of December 2012 and i have been on my period since the 20th up until now this really sucks im hating everything about it right about now! my hormones have been raging like crazy and being on my period is not helping....my question is whats the longest time frame someone has had their period for while being on the IUD?

I have had my Mirena since Nov. 2012. I first contracted an infection for it, which was said to be the cause of my continuous bleeding. But since the infection has resolved, I  still continue to bleed sometimes spotting, sometimes heavier period like bleeding in addition to my regular period.  I initially got the Mirena to help resolve my heavy periods that were causing me to faint and have a very low blood volume. The Mirena has replaced my heavy periods once a month for a period of 3-5 days with a long continuous slow never ending period. I'm getting this thing taken out!

Hey, I’m going through this now.
I wish I still had my heavy bleeding for 3 days and light 2 days. Compare to lite bleed every damn damn.
Did you feel a lot better after you got it removed?
