Iv been on cerezette since December and had no problems at all until April when I started to loose this dark brown/red discharge two weeks on its still comin away. I went to my gps she told me its nothing to do with the pill but I feel sure it is. Anyway they have run some tests and now I wait for the results. I dont really want to change pills as I love this one but if this discharge continues I may have to consider it. Readin all these entries on here have helped me not to panic that its something more sinister though :-)

I was put on this pill after having my baby nine weeks ago as I was bleeding non stop after the birth. Ive now been on this pill for a month and I'm still bleeding everyday it's so frustrating and tiring. I'm going back to my doctor as this pill clearly doesn't work for me as it does for some others. Who needs a contraceptive when your bleeding everyday. It kind of defeats the object of it lol

I have been taking Cerezette for 9 months. The first 5 were great with no periods or spotting. But then for the next 3 I have had numerous periods and brown discharge. Howerev, the last 5 weeks I have been taking a double dose of the pill each day and made sure I take it at the same time (as my GP suggested...) and it has stopped. I've had no discharge or pains since. This is great, so it might be worth trying that for a while. My GP said after 3 months I can try taking just 1 a day again.

I have been taking Cerazette for around a year now, (age 29), with little to no bleeding - i went for months without any periods and got the odd fresh blood followed by brown for a day or two. I didnt start taking the pill as it reuqires you to after a normal period i started mid cycle and this meant i wasnt getting any of the bleeding trouble most encountered inthe first 3 months as described above, Ive noticed that if i do not take the pill at exactly the same time every day after a few days of delay by just a few hours i will then start to spot. If taken at exactly the same time theres no bleeding. Also noticed being dehydrated eliminates this, the more hydrated my body is the more chance im to get a bleed.

I've been on the mini pill for just over 3 months and its doing my head in! I had no problems for the first month but the last two have been constan bleeding and brown discharge with maybe two or three days if in lucky free from anything blood etc. it's really stressing me out and is putting me off having sex as I get paranoid about having sex while still bleeding. It has interfered with me and my boyfriends sex life completely and I'm desperate to change onto another contraceptive. Sick of this now.

I've been on cerazette for a year and a half, and this was the third time I've tried it for a sustained time. The first 2 times I only tried it for 2/3 months and gave up- I had spotting, period pains and periods, no sex drive, brown discharge and mood swings. The third time, after about 4/5 months, all these symptoms faded. You can't judge how the pill reacts with you within the first few months of taking it! Imagine, you are pumping your body with all these hormones, of course not everything will be normal at first. You have to let your body have time to adjust to this and settle down. I have had no problems with this pill now since those first few months, I don't even have periods anymore! But, for the first time in a year, I've had terrible pains and brown spotting. After much searching the web, apparently if you miss a pill or two even if you take them the next day, it can cause the spotting etc. And this forum has also helped put my mind at ease... Hope this helps some of you x

Of course cerazette has a high success rate, as if anyone could have sex on this pill!

Ive been on it for 2.5 months, I've been bleeding for six weeks, six weeks of horrible black tar type period with the occasional red. As if I've let my boyfriend near me!!

I'm so sad, I'm constantly crying, getting angry, and having to curl up in a ball and shout at my partner to leave me alone because I'm in that much pain.

I cant take the combined due to a family history of DVTs, wont have the implant as my best friend needed stitches after having hers out, and have been refused a m'coil because i havent had a child and my insides are in a weird position (family thing, all our cervixes go back and to the side), I need some other form of contraception as my lady parts seem to not like condoms, even the non latex (serious ouchies that day, very bad reaction :( , dont worry we are both std free!) Anyone have any ideas? I'm desperate, its not been long since we first had sex and ive not let my partner touch me in 6 weeks, he understands why but I'm bloody frustrated!!

Also very glad to find this thread!

The first pill I tried a few years ago was Cerazette and I bled constantly and heavily, my doctor recommended that I stick it out for 3 months. Nothing changed. They said to go another 3 months... I did but I can't believe I stuck it out! One of the most awful experiences ever. I was already suffering with depression so the last thing I needed was to be constantly on a heavy period, just got together with my fella too so sex was difficult or non existant. Some of the time it was proper blood but mostly thick, dark brown sludge, yuk!!!!  ;-|

When I went back after 3 months I was put on Microgynon, this provided some light relief but I was still bleeding for 3 weeks then having about 5 days off. 3 months after that I was put on Femodene instead, this slightly improved the situation but still i was bleeding 2 weeks then having 2 with light brown discharge. So, 1 whole year of bleeding with about 6 weeks off! >;)

The reason I was looking for information and reviews about contraceptive side affects is that after all the drama with pills I was put on the Depo Provera Injection. It was an amazing experience for just over 3 years, I get light spotting for just 2 weeks out of 12 XD! It was such a relief not bleeding that I could fairly easily ignore the other side affects such as moodswings, weight gain, headaches and spots. BUT.... After my most recent injection 2.5 months ago I have experienced incredible breast pain pretty much all of the time, to the point where I now can't wear underwires. I've been so concerned that I've been checking for lumps and just did a pregnancy test which was thankfully negative. Also suffering with nausea and all the other side affects are much more intense o.O

I'm supposed to get another injection in 2 weeks but I'm not sure I can hack another 3 months of this, although from all accounts coming off the stuff is supposed to have similar symptoms. Not sure whether to see if another injection levels things out or to try a different pill and risk bleeding again :'( Not looking forward to it!

Thanks to everyone who has posted about their experiences, it's comforting to know there are others that have had the same problem. I hope you all find something that works out for you!

I've been on this for about 3 years, it doesn't get any better! I'm considering the coil after talking to my doctor. I took cerazette because i had heavy bleeding and suffer migraines, otherwise, i wouldn't bother with any pills!!

Hi,

I've been on cerezette for about 6 months, (although i was on it previous to this) and i never have periods with it (yay). however last weekend I started bleeding, not just spotting but pretty much flooding of dark red blood. I had to start wearing pads and its still pretty heavy.

so if you fall into the type that never has periods and then suddenly get heavy bleeding should I be worried?

also I've just noticed it says use with caution if you have migraines and i've been getting awful daily migraines lately. it also says something about causing abdo pain, which i get alot. hmmm.

thing is i used to get such heavy periods which is why im on it, but if im going to start having heavy ones on the pill anyway theres not much point. unless its a once off. ?

I'm glad to see all these comments about this pill! I've been on cerazette now for 5 months and to begin with, I suffered with bad nausea. It was so bad I was worried I could be pregnant again and thought it was morning sickness but this wasn't the case! So yeah, 5 months I've been on this and I haven't had a period at all but a couple of weeks ago I started getting dull period pains and for a week now, I've had a kind of brown discharge (quite light) but it's very annoying! Would rather have a normal period and be done with it. Hopefully it won't last long like some peoples has! I run out in 2 weeks so need to see family planning nurse but will ask for her advice and see if I should go on something else. I haven't had a period in nearly 2 years now (was pregnant with my son) so thought this pill would be good and had micronor but not sure now!
