Thank you all for the information. I had a cortisone shot today and my blood pressure is up. I had it in my knee because I have OA . if it doesn't help I will need a partial knee replacement because the cartilage is gone and the bone is bruised. I pray all of you feel better soon. I have such a bad headache that's how I know my BP is up. I need to call the doctor tomorrow to get blood pressure pills. I am so stressed out over this. They try to fix one thing and another problem starts.

I had a cortisone injection in my hip last Wed. The side effects I had were that I felt feverish, had a splitting headache for two days, and my BP went up as high ast 180/102. I already am taking 3 pills/daily for HBP so this was upsetting since the pills were not even helping. Finally on the 5th. day the BP returned to normal. Headache and flushing also left around that time. Don't know if I would get another shot, I was painfree for two days but yesterday the groin pain came back when I bent over. We'll see how bad it gets. Hip pain is better though.

I had the same experience in the last few weeks after having a steriod injection in my shoulder. About 3 days after the ejection I had flushing and extreemly high blood pressure. It has happened about every 4 days since sending me to the hospital on one occasion with 230/120 and a 125 heart rate. I had a very similar event 3 years ago and remembered that steriod were given me at that time also. I told the Doctor about this and he discounted it us ing the argument that people have many more injections with no side effects. This argument is ridiculous. Some people can eat a whole jar of peanuts with no ill effects while some one else eats 1/2 of a peanut and swells up like a tick.

I had bilateral hylaronic acid gel shots in my knees three weeks ago, which I have had before, but this time the doc also gave me cortisone on my last shot. Within 36 hours I had depression, anxiety, headaches and my blood pressure shot up to 202/192. My normal BP is usually 116/78. I do drake 1/2 of a 25mg of a beta blocker for headaches. The symptoms have dissipated but still having them. Went to the doctor and he confirmed it was the cortisone. There should be a warning for sensitive people. This was my first cortisone shot. Never again!

Thanks for sharing your experience. I had a cortisone injection yesterday, 12-16-2015. Today my blood pressure is 192/97. I took a very hot shower for 10 minutes. After that , my blood pressure, went down to 142/77, heartbeat was 60. I am on BP medication 3 times/day. Do you know how long does the side effect of cortisone injection will stop. This is my first time of having a cortisone injection.

I received a shot in the L4/L5 region of my spine on December 10, 2015.
I started to notice that I was becoming short tempered and anxious about a week later and chalked it up to the upcoming holiday. I also started noticing pain in my left eyeand some in my right eye. During the holidays my visiting children were sick, and I attributed my uneasiness to "coming down" with something. I also noticed when speaking to someone whether on the phone or even in person, I would feel flush in my face.
I received an inversion table for Christmas to help with my bulging discs. By December 27, I was really beginning to notice that I WAS not myself. I had to run an errand and checked my blood pressure at the market. I was shocked to see 150/96 60! My normal is 110/70 55. I called my GP's on call doctor who told me to take some Aleves, maybe take a walk or a nap. I tried to explain my concern, telling her the only things new in my life are the cortisone shot and the inversion table. she said neither would cause this change and it could be stress related. I went home, told the wife, went to blow my nose and bled like crazy! She panicked and I was already anxious, so off to the ER for a cat scan and blood work. Other than high blood pressure I was fine. Again the ER doctor assured me it was not related to the shot or the table. He told me I had hypertension. I was scheduled for another shot and spoke to the nurse who actually LISTENED to my concerned and recommended I speak to the doctor. Up until this point I was beginning to believe this change was in fact stress catching up with me. The doctor LISTENED to me and said " the shot ABSOLUTELY could have this effect and it WILL gradually wear off!"
THANK GOD!!!! As of today my BP is again 110/70 55, no more flush feeling, my eyes feel fine, although I had an eye exam when this was going on and I showed higher than normal pressure in my right eye.
That's getting checked this week.

A few days ago I went to Dr. for neck and shoulder pain. I have headaches an my doctors and the clinic are aware of this as well. The Dr. gave me a shot of Tordal which is a NSAID and a steroid shot as well. That same night I took a muscle relaxer which was my first time to take. I started feeling very strange to say the least. I didn't sleep all night an the pain was dull as it was when I went to clinic earlier in the day. The next day my headache was back worse than before and my BP was up and down. The first reading was the scariest. I felt somewhat dizzy an only recorded the bottom number which was 114. Throughout the day I still felt the effects. I flushed the muscle relaxers thinking it was the culprit. Then, I remembered that NSAIDS can cause hypertension (raise in BP). Also, I read conflicting information that steroids can also raise BP. The second day afterward, my neck an shoulder felt somewhat better. However, I exp. chest tightness and some pain, which was dull to moderate. Sometimes, it felt so uncomfortable I considered calling or goin to the dr. again. Now, today I feel pretty normal, but I am sure the combination of the shots are to blame. I plan to talk to the Dr. next week. If more info. is available I will post more.

I have had a cortisone injection in my shoulder 2 days ago. The next day I had a severe headache and feel shaky and feel odd. I have had these shots a couple years ago in my left shoulder and in my c-spine. I never had this problem then. I also never had high blood pressure. My first reading was scary, 240/183 p 92 today islower, 188/118 p77 but not good. I know they say your body is changing all the time but having blood pressure this high is alarming when mine is always normal. Awaiting another call back from my ortho dr.
