I have had the same symptoms from a cortisone shot, headache, flushing, very elevated blood pressure two years ago, and it lasted 6 weeks. I tried getting one more 5 weeks ago for knee pain and the same symptoms came back. I am still having spikes and headaches. Don't let anyone tell you this cannot happen. My doctor said some people are just very sensitive to steroids and should avoid them.

my recent interaction with cortisone shots. to start i have very good BP. in fact its on the low side but thats ok for me. im a very athletic person who doesnt smoke and stays fit. for reference im male 50 5'9 165. and my bp last night was 107/72.

i went to see my podiatrist yesterday on account of pain in my feet from running. the balls of my feet ached bad. he told me to give it some rest and gave me cortisone shots between my 2nd and 3rd toes.on both feet. today i awoke with a splitting headache. and out of curiosity i took out a BP monitor and took a reading. my BP was 165/103. i have never had it that high. heart rate was 82 when my normal is in the 55 to 63 range while awake and as low as 48 to 55 when sleeping.

dont let anyone tell you guys that its not from the cortisone shot and that its all in your head, because it isnt. get a 2nd opinion as some in this thread have done. its your health and body. listen to yourself. be well :-)

I have had cortisone injection in my shoulder, and I fully agree it can cause high blood pressure, I do suffer with slightly high pressure at times, but mine shot up to 220/105 iwith a very painful headache and fast pounding heart rate. I've experienced this once before sat up all night , took extra blood pressure pills, eventually blood pressure came down. Almost called paramedics thought I was having heart attack , as I also had . Planet pains in my top back and neck.

I received a steroid injection of Decadron 10 mg and an antibiotic injection (in the hip) in the ER went I went about possible bronchitis when I had the flu. About 10 days after the injection I had severe weakness , shaking, heart palpitations and anxiety. Some days are better than others, but these symptoms have continued for over a month. Unfortunately, the steroid shot I received is "long acting".Normally, my blood pressure is about 116/70 and heart rate about 70. I have never had anxiety before and have never taken blood pressure meds, but have taken the same low dose of thyroid medication for years. Now, my bp is 143/90 and heart rate 107. My doctor agreed it's probably the steroid shot and today I did some lab work to check thyroid and blood sugar. When results come back,I guess he will decide what should be done about my blood pressure. I can't wait until this steroid is out of my system and I will never have another steroid shot!

It's the steroids. If it wasn't an injection, they will probably be out of your system sooner.

I had a shot for hip pain 5 weeks ago. I've gone through most of the side effects: High BP, bounding pulse, flushing, etc. Nobody would believe me that all my problems came from the shot. My cardiologist sent me to the ER, BP 230/100. I was so glad to be at the hospital, at least I could be monitored. My BP is still a little high but under control. I hope I'll be ok for Christmas. I'm so happy and thankful that I found this site! Good luck to everyone who has to go through this.
