For me this lasted for 6 months. My periods now seem to be going back to normal. Sadly, the shot has been the only thing which helped my pain but I don't know if I want to go through that again.

I also had the same problem with Kenalog. I had the shot on 1/21/16 for a mild case of alopecia areata. My dermatologist did warm me that I could have menstrual irregularities since I am not on birth control. I didn't think much about it, but boy do I regret it. My period started on 1/24/16 and didn't stop until 3/7/16. it was such a miserable time for me. I was having heavy bleeding, constant cramps, and always anxious. I started getting headaches daily, which my pcp thinks was bc I kept taking pain killers. My gyn also did a pap and sono to rule out other things, even though I knew for certain it was the kenalog, and those were fine. Iron was on the low end of normal. I don't know when exactly my period will go back to normal 5 day cycle. I got it again 3/24 and I am praying it won't last as long again. It's not clear to me when people's cycles began to regulate. I will never, ever take this stupid drug again. It caused me more problems than I had before.

I just had my first (and last) cortisone shot for Tendonitis in my wrist this past April and was 6 days late with my menstrual cycle. Now I've had it for 8 days straight with no signs of stopping. I called my GYN and still waiting for a callback. In the meantime, I was searching to see what could have caused this and stumbled upon all these comments. So grateful that I found this site because I was literally diagnosing myself as being on my death bed. I'm sure many of you can relate, especially when you start plugging in your symptoms on webmd. This is so annoying and I'm frustrated that the orthopedist did not care to share this information as being one of the effects. I would've just dealt with the wrist pain. Hoping to feel some relief soon!

I'm so happy to find this thread! I've made an appointment with ob but that isn't for two more months!! I started getting cortisone injections 8 mths ago and my periods were fine the first 2 mths then really light the 3rd. Three weeks late the 4th then heavy and lasted 14days had maybe 5days without before starting again the 5th mth. The last three have been almost constant sometimes light then very heavy. I have had 3or 4 days with no bleeding each month but have to wear a pad anyway because I never know when it will start again. I do get cramps but not the whole month, thank goodness! I'm freaking out because when I asked the doctor he said it shouldn't happen and to make an appt with my ob. I was thinking the worst when I found this site. I'm not alone and yes this does happen when getting cortisone injections!

Bless you all ladies for this site! I thought I was having cancer! My two children are under four! OMG! These cortisone shots must come with very clear warnings about the effects, otherwise the psychological damage far outweighs any positive impact from them. I am due for a scan for cancerous cells in February. Anyone can imagine what that is doing to my wellbeing or my family's. It's preposterous that health professionals don't know or warn patients about such powerful effects from a drug.
All the best to you all, and may we all remain in good health.
