Cortizone injection side effects

I knew he shouldn't have had that injection of Cortisone...Yesterday, my husband received a Cortisone injection and today he has hiccups continually. I said, "This has never happened to you before, I am checking out Cortisone side effects online." And there it is, all over the web, many accounts of folks receiving Cortisone shots and them within a day experiencing continuous hiccups....He has tennis practice, and I am like, maybe not, if you have continuous hiccups, and you put more strian on your heart, would that be a good thing...hummm....Dang! Anyone have a hiccup cure???

I received the shot yesterday and have had the hiccups on and off every since. Will call the doctor Monday.

I've had one shot on the right side of neck, 3 shots on the left side, and 12 hours later I get the hiccups none stop. My Doc said that he did not here of this problem before. Well somebody like a Doc should find the answer to this. I've tried every remedy in the book, even others. NO cure.

Just Had cortizone shot in my shoulder 1 1/2 days ago have had continous hiccups? Need help How do I stop this? Does it go away? Tums are not working! Now everytime I eat something I hiccup? It goes away for 2-4 hours and then comes back!!

My husbands hiccups finally went away after 3 days, however I have read that the timing varies with people. Some have reported that it has been weeks since their shot and they still had the hiccups.

Yes. Every time I have gotten a cortisone shot,I get the hiccups. Each time they last longer as well. Last time was a week without stopping. No more cortisone shots or my wife will kill me and the doctor!!

Temporary hiccup relief - Put one teaspoon of sugar in your mouth and let it dissolve slightly and swallow.

Wow. I just got a cortizone shot in my neck yesterday morning. The next day at 4am woke up with bad hiccups 7 hrs later have not gone away. I never get hiccups either.

Yes! I'm no doctor,but I have had three cotisone injections in both knees, and after each time I got recurring hiccups for a day or two. I have them right now! that's why I'm checking to see if anyone else has the same experience. Damn, doctors should know this.

I had a cortizone shot on Thirsday it is now saturday and I am still having the hick ups. I don,t want to call the on call cause he is going to send me to the ER where i will spend the next several hours waiting to be seen.. This is Very anoying and I wish it would stop NOW.

hi yes i have cortisone injections in my hands and wrists each time i have the injections this happens each time the haed ache lessens in time scale,although i have been haveing them for several years,hope this helps

About 15 years ago I had some cortizone shots. Three separate times I got the hiccups within a day of the shot. They got progressively worse each time. By the third one I had them for 3 days with little sleep. I waited for about 15 years before I decided to give it one more try. A few weeks ago I got one for relief from a sinus infection. They started again for 2 days solid.

I have never gotten the hiccups for an extended time except for when I have had a shot.

I have no doubt that the shot causes me to get the hiccups.

I too can vouch for cortisone injection causing seemingly uncontrollable hiccups. This has happened too me twice now. Pattern seems the same as in others I've found on the net - with 12 hours get hiccups that last for about 2 days. As far as getting some relief I have found that a shot of sherry (strong sweet wine) does stop them for a couple hours. Just make sure the alcohol is not contraindicated for any other medication you might be on.

I am a physician, Rarely get hiccups and had severe hiccups for 18 hours a month ago and again today.

Both episodes were within 24 hous of a steroid injection in the shoulder.

I think there is defintiely a connection.

Lying down and drinking cold water slowly makes them subside but start again when I stand up.

called the doc and his nurse says someone else reported the same problem
