Cortizone injection side effects

I've gotten cortizone shots on two occasions. Both times I got the shot at 9 am, got hiccups both times sleeping in the middle of that night. I never get hiccups. They lasted about 24 hrs off and on. Dr. never heard of these side effects before.

Yes yes I can confirm that cortisone shot gie hiccups to some people, my Doctor respond very quickly saying yes thst cortisone could give to some people allergies such as hiccup the first time I got the the cortisone shot two weeks ago I got the hicups the next day I thought they were releated to food, but now I cna confirm jsut like my Doctor confirmed he recooment Benadril to begin if this doe s nto stop it he will prescribe soemthgin more strong, thanks

Had a cortisone injection in my shoulder yerday morning and have been hiccuping uncontrollably today. Even when I conecentrated on stopping them and they stopped for a while, they soon returned.  Unnerving, and definitely a side effect sort of thing

I had cortisone shot put in my hip for tennis elbow at 4pm monday and at 2pm tuesday the hiccups started, they have not stopped,it's now wednesday @6:30 pm and they have graduated to "double" hiccups I am starting to feel like i've been ran over by a truck from all of the hiccups and nothing seems to work at all.

I received a cortizone shot yesterday for my knee.  Started hiccuping today at certain times. Using water and honey to help with my problem. Never had this kind of situation and thought something had to be wrong. Checked this website and found I wasn't crazy!  It seems a lot people are going thru the same medical issue.     

My husband just had his 2nd cortisone shot in his upper neck & has developed hiccups along with thrush. I think I will call his doctor and see what they prescribe for the hiccups. We have Nystatin for the thrush already. Great forum. I'm glad I read it.

I'm so glad (misery loves company) that other people are experiencing this. I had my cortisone injection in my back two days ago and have had hiccups for two days running. I have always been able to stop hiccups and control them easily but these are different and are driving me insane!

Someone should surely add this to the list of side effects!

same here. Had my first cortisone shot for L5/S1 disc injury. 20 hrs later I had moderate hiccups which come and go. They stop for awhile but come back. Even though I don't get these but every couple years, the typical teaspoon of sugar that Ive taken in the past does not work. What is unique about these is that they seem to double up when I hiccup. Also, there seems to be a little acid reflux/burning after awhile, which has never happened to me. I agree that the medical community needs to know about this and report it accordingly. 

Yup, I do believe that I may have gotten hiccups from the cortisone injections I got late yesterday afternoon in both knees. Started at work this afternoon and lasted for an hour. Only got them to go away by holding my breath as long as I could while walking to my car. Repeated two or three times. Then a half hour later at home they started up again and went looking on the internet to see if anyone else had had the same problem. Looks like there are a bunch of us. Ouch! I had already suspected that the cortisone was leaking out of my joints since almost all of my other aches and pains have gone away and I have felt a little flushed and 'wired' all day, the same way I have felt after taking a high does oral steroid for a week to reduce inflammation in my knees. Funny thing though, I have taken the same high dose oral steroid a few times in the past and never got hiccups.

On two separate occasions in different years I've gotten cortisone jabs and then gotten hiccups later on that same evening.  Once was for back pain inflammation and the other time was for poison ivy.  As I sit here with another rash due to poison ivy, I am debating which is better - minor itching or the hiccups?  For now I'm choosing the itching and treating the rash.  Anyway, it does appear that there is a population of us out there that get hiccups as a side effect.

I have hiccups right now from cortizone.

Tried mylanta ( acid reflux liquid)
Tried Galveston ( acid reflux with barrier)
Tried somac ( heartburn tablet)
Tried nexium ( reflux tablet)
Tried inner health plus (probiotic)

32hrs without sleep and nothing has worked in the slightest. I want die.

Just an update on the progression of the hiccups due to cortizone injection.

I took zantec (allergy, heyfever tablet)
I took charcoal tablets

Not sure which one helpt, but the hiccups reduces some what and I slept for 6 hours.

Yes this is troublesome. I didn't realize it on the last 2 occasions but today I realized it was linked and Now I'm seeking help from my local clinic or emergency room. What works for you all? Any suggestions

Got one shot in each hip yesterday.... woke up w/ hic-ups and had them on and off all day.. very relieved to read this forumthough
