Hello all,
I was wondering if you could help me. I've been on BC religiously for 6 years (took it within an hour of when it was due everyday no waivering), got married a few months ago. In January, I began the midnight shift at my job, and took my pill late by a few hours several times. My husband and I have unprotected sex, our only BC is the pill. The first day of my placebo pill we had unprotected sex. Got my period, though everything was fine. I've taken my pill late by a few hours a few times this month already (not adjusting to midnights well). This week I've been nauseous, extremely tired, severe headaches, bloated, had an episode where my nipples hurt so bad but eventually went away, and want salty foods. I would think nothing of it (some are normal PMS, some are new- headaches, nipples hurting) except I don't start placebo pills for a week. Is there a chance I could be pregnant?

I don't think you are pregnant due to the fact that you still take the pill everyday. You don't have to take the pill everyday at the same time but it is preferred. But I do think something could be wrong. You are having headaches, naseau, and craving salty thing you may have a problem with your blood sugar. You should get it checked out, but I don't think it is pregnancy though. I hope this helps!!!! :-D

PMS and pregnancy are virtually identical when it comes to symtpoms! Thus MANY surprises, Teenmom is correct - even though it is prefered to take it at the same time, you actually have to miss a couple of DAYS for it to become ineffective - some it is 7 days!!! I would suspect that you are having PMS PLUS other symtpoms from a new job/shift - lack of sleep, causing nausea and headaches! Also since you already had your period for Jan, you are FINE! Good luck and health!
