Hello. I am hoping someone might be able to shed some light on a mysterious situation I've encountered. About three weeks ago, I had what I can only guess was an allergic reaction to something. (Not sure what.) The right side of my upper lip swelled dramatically and quickly, so I took a benadryl. It went down for a minute, but when I iced it, it started to go back up. I went to the ER. By the time I got to the ER it had already gone down quite a bit. In the emergency room they gave me steroids and benadryl through an IV and released me with a prescription for a prednisone taper. I took all my steroids and continued to take benadryl, but my lip continued to be a little bit puffy. It's like it was swollen and then went 85% back to normal, but stopped short of recovery. It has now been 3 weeks and I have seen no improvement. I have seen various doctors, and am seeing an allergist and an ENT next week (this was the soonest I could get an appointment.) Over the past 2 weeks, I have noticed a small cyst next to the area of my upper lip that is still puffy. I saw one doctor who believed it could be an inflamed salivary gland that got pushed out due to such extreme swelling. I'm very worried about this and want to know if anyone has ever experienced something like this? The cyst is small but noticeable, on the inside of my upper lip, and I'm concerned about it. I've had blood tests that seem to rule out an infection. Anyone experienced this?
