Hello, I am very so concerned for my father. He is 76 years old and has been a diabetic for a decade and a half and so far he kept the things under control. But ever since my mother died, he stopped taking care of himself and it seems that his eyes suffer because of that. Diabetes causing macular traction – is that possible?

Yes, unfortunately. That is just one of the several problems that might occur because of diabetes. But this usually happens when the therapy is not taken regularly, if at all and that is what might have happened to your father. You have to try to convince him to start taking his therapy properly, or he might be in a serious danger of loosing his eyesight.
