My son should have his eye operated in couple of days, the procedure is called macular hole surgery. How dangerous is it? Will he be all right when it is over? What about his eyesight? I am just concerned for him, nothing indicated he has such a serious condition until the vision problems occurred.

Well, that is a major sign that there is something going on, other than that, without a detailed eye examination, there is no way you can foreseen this trouble. Anyway, macular hole surgery should help him in restoration of the normal vision, but there is a chance that the procedure might not be that effective, if the condition has been lasting for more than three months. But I guess we will know that after the surgery.
