Hi! I hope that all of you on this forum are feeling well.
I was diagnosed with relapsing polychondritis at the age of 34.
14 years ago I met this amazing rheumatologist who prescribed Chloroquine aka Plaquenil (400 mg daily) and Meloxicam (15mg daily).
I am grateful that this treatment worked well for me for over a decade.
In 2013 I signed a form for an anatomical donation to NYU in hopes that in my death I can help find answers to this rare disease.
I am not well now because several other medical conditions due to the RP have arisen. I have been hospitalized three times in less than 3 months due to these other medical conditions.
I am unable to work now so I will be applying for Social Security disability as soon as I can pull myself together.

As this disease hits 3 in a million, very few doctors have heard of it. Like many of you, I felt hopeless and did not know how to help myself. I was on loads of Prednisolone and had to be airflown by SOS from my work base in Shanghai to Hong Kong for emergency treatment. I searched the Internet for answers and after much self-analysis, I narrowed down to two main reasons that caused my RP -- Stress and Anger. So apart from many of the great suggestions already mentioned here -- strictly no PROCESSED food or drinks and having plenty of rest, making a conscious effort to reduce your stress and anger will help you to recover. Do not lose faith, I have cured myself of RP and so can you!
